exhaust system help within price range, <$400?

I am extremely interested in the HKS silent hi-power axle back exhaust system, but I'm not 100% sure it will fit properly on the MDM Fit (it's designed for the JDM Fit). Does someone have another suggestion that is of better quality/sound/price? The HKS is $342 and free shipping from Japan at kamispeed.com.
All replies welcome!

It Should bolt up no problem, but the JDM bumper is flush with the hatch and the USDM extends a few inches out so it might not be flush with the bumper. HKS/SPOON/J'sRacing are all good choices too.

hks exhaust

Got to the kamispeed site that shows the hks system and look at the post a question section. I asked if it fit he USDM 2015 fit properly. They said the exhaust will work but the outlet will be flush with the bumper. Hope that helps. Their site is HKS Silent Hi-Power Axle-Back Exhaust - 2015 Honda Fit | KamiSpeed.com

I ordered the HKS Hi-power muffler stainless steel, 130mm shell, 60mm pipe, 96mm tip. Will this fit and install properly? What adapter should I use to fit the muffler pipe (2.3") to the stock exhaust pipe (1.75")? I've never done custom exhaust before. Can anyone help? I will have it in a week.

hks muffler

Do not worry any good muffler shop can adapt the HKS to fit the stock diameter pipe. Also they will make a couple of hanger rods to hook to the muffler and fit up perfectly. My guess is they will charge 100 to 125 dollars for the work. Carry some old cardboard in the back so you can get the old muffler in case you ever need to go back. Let us know how you like the install and post so pictures.

James,
thank you for the assurance that it'll work out fine and the heads up about the cost involved. Greatly appreciated! Would you have a high recommendation to a shop in particular that will do the job right at a good price? I know a shop I've taken my car to before close by that does custom exhaust and have met the owner, not a chain or anything, just a small auto shop.

muffler fitment

I would think the shop you are looking at will be able to do that for you. I too am looking at doing something similar if I do not buy an axel back system like HKS.

I might be sending it to the Honda dealership I bought it from since the Fit is so new. I'll see what's best. I think the HKS Hi-Power muffler is going to be perfect. I didn't see a reason to go cat-back (too expensive) or axle-back (still expensive and what efficiency increase? Same pipe size/bends) The stock piping is perfect in my opinion, especially for a N/A engine, turbo I'd go big pipes for sure of course. Honda did a beautiful job, in my opinion, on the piping on the new Fit as is. Any thoughts on my logic? Faulty/reasonable? I don't see a reason to do anything more than a high quality free flowing muffler, maybe a more free flowing resonator. Then again, you don't want to decrease too much back pressure, right? I'm interested to see what this minor change will do for the car and will be sure to post feedback, pics, and videos/sounds when I have it set up.

Just leave it stock. Nobody wants to hear you go 0-60 in 15 seconds.

Ignorance is bliss isn't it ?

0-60 times has the Honda Fit 2015 (manual) at 7.8 seconds. I'm not sure why everybody thinks this car is so slow. The motor is capable. It's not sport car turbo fast but for a normally aspirated 1.5L, it's more than decent. I know a few subcompact cars with gas turbo motors that are slower than that.

Also, not seeing the outlet pipe in the Fit is a real eyesore. It almost appears as if there is no muffler on the car at all.

HKS Hi-Power universal muffler installed and thoroughly tested for feedback!!!

I have the HKS Hi-Power universal stainless steel muffler installed now! Wow, what a product! The car is nothing like it used to be. It went from a hybrid sound to a JDM spec type-R/Si version of the '15 Fit and that is absolutely what this revamp of this wonderful car deserves, hands down! Beautiful sound, 100% not ricey at all! Pure deep bellowy performance exhaust note! Never heard anything like it! Its a symphony on a bass pipe organ! There is absolutely a difference in the performance as well even though just a muffler swap along with about two feet of pipe to adapt from the stock to the muffler pipe (half axle-back). It has power and acceleration in every part of the rev range, any speed, from 10-100mph! The car can breathe without any restriction! It is completely noticeable from stock. That thing was choking the poor car. Responsive anytime you ask for it. It has an almost overwhelming booming low tone from 3-4k rpms especially more intense under heavy engine load up steep gradiants. This rationalized by fluctuationg the rpms between 2500-3k and just holding 4k the deep bellowing tone flattens out. I don't know the reason for it, but I'm assuming the perforations in the muffler for sound are producing this sound due to a certain exhaust flow rate at that rpm range along with increased exhaust flow due to heavy engine load. I am receiving a silencer, which is to tone it down it bit for that situation as I'm going to have a newborn in the car as well. It is supposed to decrease the decibels by 7. I think that'll be perfect! Everything about the muffler I am more than satisfied! I am now also ordering an HKS emblem to put on the other side of the hatch from the Fit emblem to advertise to all who hear will know what makes that beautiful sound!
