I can't see the pictures....but this sounds real fun.

 

Darn, pics not showing up... maybe I messed something up. I can see them on my own post... It is fun. Fit is a great car for where we typically run. Power to weight ratio is very favorable. We lighten the cars but do very little to powertrain.

Photobucket is exactly what I'm using. Perhaps the photo sizes are too big? I'm able to see them when I enter the thread.

Updated the links... Hope this is working for people.

 

I have and I like it. It's quiet under 3k and gets louder at higher RPMs. I have not gone above 5K with it since the car is still breaking in. I chose the ti mainly for weight, it's about 5.15lbs which saves a good amount of weight over stock. We try to get the bodies as light as possible. We even remove the factory sealing glue for the weight. Might sound a little excessive but every pound matters during chassis prep. Second reason is we get good prices on buddyclub and it's worked well for us. We run endurance races with these cars sometimes 5-6 hours going full out. Parts need to be stable.

More work has been done since the original post. Finishing suspension, brakes, gauges. Removed radio but keeping the A/C for now.

The car and this team is located in China right now. The GK5 is a very capable car. It's becoming the king at the tracks we run now. We have a range of GK5s running around over here from practice cars, club cars, and even factory cars that run in the CTCC (China Touring Car Championship) series.

 

Nothing drastic. Class restrictions and stability reasons. This car runs endurance races so stability is the most concnerning. At 130hp with the weight reduction, it is a very capable already for most of the tracks we run. Axle back is on and we're still looking for a decent intake. Might just make our own. Oh, there will be an external computer, this should add a little.

Before we touch the engine, we usually go into the drivetrain first by changing out to a sequential transmission. The GK5s running sequential trans go into a difference class. Just too much of an advantage.

Makes sense. Pretty cool, wish there was such a passion for these cars and racing in the US. I see a lot of work being done on these cars in Asain countries. Really cool to see.

 

Fit is a good car. Essentially everything for us is power to weight ratio. These are not just "track day" cars so we also take into consideration running costs etc. We may run $1K in tires per car on a weekend. Add on cost of repairs and maintenance things start adding up real quick.

205/50/15 would be the largest we run. Clearance and too much resistance. I run 195/55/15. Some of the races provide spec tires so for different races might be using different tires.

 

Interesting how local availability affects racing. The track here in portland I ran Civic and Sentra's ,,, the straight killed me, about 95 to100 was best you could hope for out of a carbureted 1.5.. I felt like I needed a nap by the end of the straight.
The small engine cars just fell out of popularity here quickly.

Are the 3 big classes here.. Pro 3 is the most fun, per $ class, enough speed to make it interesting, and cheap enough to keep the car on track..

 

Certainly does. Availability of parts, aftermarket support and very important is also the technical support. There are plenty of higher HP cars, just depends on what you are running in and what's your driver level. A couple of the BRZs are turbo charged. Our Fits do run on the Shanghai F1 circuit during the season too. There's also a turbo charged class. Lots of different cars in the shop all the time. Even with these cars, you can sink an endless amount of money into them. Just finished one race and next weekend will be a 6 hour endurance race.
