Fit a Wheelchair in a Fit

Has anyone tried to fit a normal size folding wheelchair in the hatch area of a fit? Does it fit with the seats up or do they need to be folded down?

I'd love to see pics of a wheelchair inside if you have them! Thanks so much!

hey. ive actually had a wheelchair in my fit. not in the hatch sorry but i folded it and put it in the tall mode behind my seat. also had someone else sit comfortable in the other seat.
shouldnt be a problem at all!
ps i advise getting a blanket or something so it wont scratch any surrounding plastics. :-)

i actually had a customer that came down to see if it fit before buying. Yes it does fit in the hatch without folding the rear seats.

I put a folding wheelchair in my fit and folded my rear seats down. I laid the wheelchair on it's side and just slid it in. I was in a hurry so i didn't try to put it in any other way. Seems like we've all done it differently, and all of our ways work. I'm tellin' ya, we drive the best cars ever LOL!

I was able to put a wheelchair into the back of my fit without putting any sits down. Just open the back hatch and put it in.

I had one of the reclining back wheelchairs for people with broken hips so it was slightly bigger than a normal wheelchair. But even with that one I could fit it in. It had to be just so so to fit but it did. So if you have a normal wheelchair it should fit easily.

It should fit behind the front seats folded if you put the rear seats up in whatever that mode is where the seat bottom lifts. I find it easier to lift it into that space through the rear passenger door rather than having to lift it up above the bumper and duck under the hatchback to lay it in. I work with wheelchairs a lot and am used to struggling to lift and position them. The Fit should have plenty of room.

This is actually really awesome news! We have some friends in chairs, so this will be very convenient when hanging out with them.
