Thumbs up Colorado: Ordered My Blaze Orange Fit!

Just wanted to post a quick note here. I've been following the threads for quite some time and found it all very informative. When I eventually winnowed down the choices for the new car I started contacting dealers hereabouts to see what they had....and boy, it sure wasn't easy to find a Fit!

I eventually test drove a base auto up in Denver and absolutely loved it, then got to see a Blaze Orange Metallic "live" at the dealer's earlier this week. It was perfect....lovely wyfe thought it was a bit too orange (we were both thinking it might be a touch darker like the Honda Element), but on the other hand it isn't blazing hunter's orange like one VW we saw-so she agreed that was the color for us. (I think she would have really fallen for a forest green one if it had been available--Honda are you listening?)

So...I talked to a couple of dealers, tossed around some prices, and placed the order. These cars are definitely hard to get....it'll be end of July before mine comes in, but it's worth the wait.

Glad to see there are a couple of other Fit owners here in Colorado (and I know of at least one fellow BOM owner here in Colorado Springs). This is gonna be fun.

Alllllright....another BOM owner on the Front Range! I live up North (bought mine at Mile High Honda in Aurora) and I have only seen one BOM in my neck of the woods. Nice to know there are a couple down in the Springs. Next time we make the drive down we will keep a look out.

Do you plan on any mods? I would recommend a 3M hood protection application cuz I have read lots about the crappy paint and I have a chip or two already. If you don't plan on garaging it then window tint would be a good idea because I understand it helps the AC function better. We are looking at another hot summer too, I think.

So, post some pics when you can. And tell your wife I think it looks like copper more than orange People always compliment me on the color!

P.S. Hope you don't mind me playing around with your color tags, was that what you had in mind?

~Peace

Yeah, it's kinda funny though. I've only seen exactly one Fit down here, the Vivid Blue Pearl, actually "on the street"--all the others have been at a dealer's. Friends at work have seen just about every color made but somehow I'm missing them, including the other BOM one. I was somewhat anxious to see the BOM before buying just to make sure it wasn't too orange (would really have preferred a slightly more coppery or umber color) and it seemed like that was the rarest one around.

Then, all of the sudden, somebody at work saw one on the road here in the Springs (so I know there's at least one other) and two dealers sent me emails about getting one on the lot. I figured it was a reward for a good and virtuous life.....

In fact yes....I'd done quite a bit of research on this before buying. Based on the comments here I'm definitely getting the windows tinted (the dealer's deal is pretty sucky--12 months/12,000 mile warranty on the tint--so I'm looking for a good shop here in town) to help the air conditioning. This was one of the things I checked when I test drove the one up in Denver (a Lunar Mist Metallic, for the record) and I agreed with many of the posts here--the air conditioning just felt a smidgen "weak". It will live in the garage, which itself is getting a "mod"--a whole new sealed floor (time to pretty it up anyway, and this is a good excuse).

Dead pedal gets ordered today (I noticed this almost immediately on the test drive) and the dealer is doing the clear bra, cargo cover, etc.

Yeah, in the sunlight the copper is much stronger--at first lovely wyfe was lukewarm and then the sun came out and she felt more positively about it.

For me it was part practical, part emotional. The black is very nice looking but would show all the dirt on my road (we're building a house 5 miles back on a gravel road). I personally don't like any of the "pastel" pearlized colors, and I've never been a big fan of white cars. That left the Vivid Blue Pearl, the Milano Red, and the BOM.

Well, my current car (a sturdy 1988 Tercel) is blue, and the Milano (while a fine car!) is just a bit too "candy red" for me. And so since I love the various orange colored cars I've seen out there anyway....the rest is history.

An update:

Just picked up my Fit yesterday (from Vidmar Motors down in Pueblo--excellent service and no nonsense with the dealers, I highly recommend them) and drove it back up to Colorado Springs. Gorgeous car, tons of pep.....I can tell I'm gonna like this.

Now for a name...hmmmm............
