Yeah we all have seen it many times, but that alright i cant get enough of it! It looks great! Im happy to hear you will be crossing over to Honda when these come out! I Wonder if Honda will be taking pre-orders on these?
I was almost raedy to trade in for an 07/08, but this looks like it's worth the wait, and it'll give me a year to improve my credit score :-P
The front lights and air intakes look nice. I don't like the rest of it. The front windshield looks too big, and the back, and side-view makes it look way to much like a minivan. Also, why does every new generation of a car have to be bigger? I don't want a bigger car. Scion did the same thing with their new generations. We finally got some small cars back in the US when the Scions and Honda Fit came to the US, but now they are just getting bigger. I think this is definitely a step down in looks.
This is the way I see it from reading the posts:
07/08 Fit owner says:
09 Fit looks ugly.
09+ Fit future owner says:
09 Fit looks awesome!

Seriously though, its normal for cars to move up. So that means more feature content, more safety features, more interior space, more engine power, etc. The funny thing is that if the Civic for example never moved up, then there wouldnt be a reason to have the Fit in the model lineup.
And btw, Honda isnt going to do the same thing to the Fit that was done to the new xB and the xD. The Edmunds article states the 09 has a minimal increase in weight and they even said it handles better than the current model.
Its a stereotype. I wasnt applying it to everyone. It's just something that I have noticed.
BTW I like both models. I dont hate on either one. Honda love right?
If the 2009 Fit comes with a diesel engine you might get close to 45 MPG. I am hearing (OK, reading) rumors that the 2009 might have a diesel, or maybe the 2010. Doesn't Honda have a 1.3 liter diesel that it sells in Europe or Asian countries???
I think the current Fit was brought to America to give the 2009 model buzz. Honda only anticipated selling 40k Fit for '07 model year, and lucky for us sold almost double.
Maybe Honda is learning it's lesson after the Miata crushed the Del Sol. If Honda didn't release the Fit now, Versa and Yaris would have an edge in consumer confidence in 2008 when the Fit intended for America arrived. In '08 when Yaris and Versa are still the same, Honda will have an all new Fit with more power and more features, backed by all the rep the current gen gets.
That white Fit RS will be mine!
