I believe the pins at the back of the head unit is the same type as the ones found in the back of old CD ROM drives. I used female D-SUB pins to make the connection to the headunit. I did try fitting the female D-SUBs onto a old CDROM drive and they made a good connection.
As for spacing of the pins, I did not measure, but would bet that they were 0.100'' apart.
