No, it does not. The dash is completely different. You can buy after-market lighting which is not hard to install. There is a tutorial on this forum under Fit Lighting.

115hp iVTEC, hard hitting? Gimme a break. No. you won't feel it. You don't even feel it in the GD3. the i simply means the cam timing is variable as well.

Has anyone tried to fit the telescoping portion of the steering wheel? I've got long legs and my arms are nearly fully outstretched to the GD3 wheel in order for me to sit comfortably while driving.

I'm definitely interested in hearing your answer, as I'd love to get both items. Especially the Honda Accessories Blue Stitched shiftknob.

he wasn't referring to the power, he was referring to if there is a cam profile change-over like in K20A, K20A2, K20Z1, K20Z3, etc. instead of adjusted timing as in the K20A3, etc.

On the GD3, the motor runs on 12 valves until it is in vtec mode, then it is using all 16 valves. the GE8 uses all 16 valves all the time. the question is; do the GE8 camshafts have vtec change-over profiles?

GD3

GE8

They look nearly identical.

I am waiting impatiently for parts diagrams of the GE to become available so that i can get an answer to this question myself. I'm thinking that the telescoping mechanism is fairly simple, and concealed under the plastic directly behind the steering wheel. If this is the case, then it should be a straight-forward matter to install the needed parts in a GD3. Both cars have ample room in the steering-column/dashboard area to allow it. I dearly hope it will be do-able, as I really would like a tele wheel. My Mazda5 had it and i miss it a little more each day.

I'm watching (lurking ) with anticipation to find out about the tilt/telescopic wheel too!

The woman that owns the day-care I take my daughter to bought a GE and has been letting me crawl all over it. The telescoping mechanism appears to be a two part shaft that is enclosed in the plastic behind the wheel itself. I can't really tell if the steering column below that is identical to the GD or not, thats what I need parts diagrams for. As soon as College Hills Honda puts up the diagrams we're in business....And then I need some fool to total a GE so I can cannabalize the entire steering column LOL

Huh, I think honda is trying to even up their engine naming. That cam gear is too simple to adjust timing. Not to mention $10 cheaper than the GD3.

warrants further research. Doesn't make sense the L15A1 is "VTEC" and the L15A7 is "i-VTEC" with just a change in cam profiles and a new lifter design.

i-VTEC

i changed my mind about the swap.

for someone who wants to run thier fit into the ground, swapping out the l15 to the newer version would be awesome.

you'd probably get better gas mileage and if the torque is appreciated even in the heavier, less sporty chassis, i can imagine how nice it would feel on the gd3. if it was smoother too...that would be great.

would the engine be a direct bolt in? everything looks like its roughly in the same place no?

Honestly, only a dumbass would invest considerable time and money for a 9hp Gain. If you are gonna swap do a k20 or k24, and upgrade the clutch/flywheel before its installed. If you are going to do a swap put something in that's worth it. 9hp, or another 109hp. A k24 w/6 speed doubles the HP of the fit engine. Thats a lot of work and money for no real gain. Turbo before you swap.

So the change in height has got to be the perch location on the shock.

I just installed front GD stock springs on the GE, and its not even worth taking a picture... not noticable at all.

Now the search is on for GD shocks...

not really a funny question. the difference between a D16 vtec crossover and a b16 vtec crossover is night and day.
