Exclamation Ignition light ring DIY for 2008 base model.

I do not accept responsibility for any damage to YOUR Fit unless I am doing the job for you. Nuff said!

Base model, GD3, with OEM keyless entry and OEM security system installed by me.

Following niko3257's lead in the installation of JDM DOHC SiR's LED ignition light ring...here we go.

Thanks JDM DOHC SiR!

Red wire to fused constant 12VDC.

Black wire to ground.

...Easy enough so far!

See niko3257's post here for other 'nuts and bolts' info:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-ring-diy.html
Thanks niko3257!

Yellow wire (Yellow wire) to green with white stripe by ignition switch.
(Read on.)

Blue wire to White with black stripe and silver specks behind instrument cluster.
(Read on.)

Take gauge cluster apart in three steps...

Bezel pulls away with slight force.
Four unnoticeable black circles note where the clips are located. Look hard.

Look for the four arrows and remove these screws.

Look for the 5 arrows and remove these screws.

Looking down at top of dash board where the gauge pod was. The wire you need to tap-in the BLUE wire to is the white and black stripe with silver specks, FIFTH FROM the LEFT at TOP OF CONNECTOR PACK.

Push in the retainer and remove the connector by gently wiggling it loose. YOU CAN SEE THE retainer in the next shot beside the black arrowhead.

Here is a close-up of the wire and where it is.

Tap-in and wire tie everything you do!

Next is the YELLOW WIRE (YELLOW WIRE).

The green connector show here is directly below the ignition bezel. (Sorry I did NOT show how to remove column housing in this pictorial. See niko3257's pictorial in the GE8 forum for these shots...Thanks niko3257!)

Tap-in YELLOW WIRE (YELLOW WIRE) to the GREEN with WHITE STRIPE.

Reverse gauge POD installation and enjoy being able to see the key hole in the dark, thanks to JDM DOHC SiR!

Thanks Dave!

Constant blue without the key inserted.

LED totally off with key inserted.

RED when alarm is armed.

Be careful out there...its a world!

Brother,

The area that the LED 'shows through' is small.

Do you think it would be wise to try to make the ignition hole a tad bigger on the drill press?

OR...should I leave well enough alone!

I'm leaning in the leave well enough alone direction!
