owning a honda fit for 2 damn years and it doesnt go over 2k rpm

right fellas i basically bought this cute little fit 2 years ago as a front hitted car managed to sort the body out, but the engine still has faults, it doesnt want to go over 2k rpm and it appears to be the electronic throttle body. its a 1.4 lsi engine with only 3000 miles on the clock, can the hit at the front cause any ecu problems i.e the air bags in the car were deployed when i first bought it is there a way on reseting the ecu or is the best option going b16/b18/k20/k22 any help will be appriciated

Totally kidding on the previous post. Aside from the accident what else has been done to the car? Any performance mods? Is it throwing any CEL codes? More info would help out a bunch.

As far as motor swaps go, I believe you can't put an older motor (such as a B series) in the Fit. Atleast that's how it is in the US, not sure if all countries are like that. If you have the $ for a K swap that would be sweet

the engine is factory standard no mods what so ever, basically when i start the car it idles funny and when i put my foot on the accelerator it just goes upto 2k and no higher, i even took the plug of the trottle but it just did not make a difference thats why im assuming its the electronic throttle body.

as for engine swap in the u.k there is no law on what engine you can put in any car, so i was hoping to go down the b series route as they are a fraction the price for the k20 in the u.k does anyone know if its a straight swap on the mounts or will i need to modify the old ones or is there a place where i can get them ready made

That sounds to me like the car is in "limp" mode. That is usually, but not always, caused by a faulty mass air meter. I'd find someone that can pull the ecu codes and go from there.

i'd imagine that new mounts would be necessary. the B-series engines have the exhaust manifold toward the front of the car, whereas the exhaust manifold on the L-series are toward the firewall.

there are a few members who have posted GD's from the philippines, thailand, and china with b-series engines. i would suggest contacting those members if you decide to go this route. good luck and hook us up with a DIY/Build thread

unplugging the battery for 15-20 minutes usually can reset the ECU. I don't know about getting it out of limp mode. i'm not sure about the honda fit, but a lot of cars go into limp mode anytime the airbags are deployed. you might want to find a service manual to find out how to reset the ECU if unplugging the battery doesn't work.

i counter your gd3 + b18c with a gd3 + b16b

seriously, if CA laws weren't so wack and a b-series conversion cost less than a k-conversion... i would be all over a high revving b16b gd3

My girl had the same problem in a toyota matrix and it ended up being a faulty ECU. It was fried! Maybe you have the same issue...

You two must want a torqueless Honda Fit.... and this is coming from someone with a stroked B16B in a 1999 Honda Civic Hatchback.

Check ALL your wiring. I can't count the numbers of cars I've seen at school that were in limp home mode from bad wiring connections. Just unplug all the eonnections you see, one at a time, and plug them back in making sure they're all seated.
