cruise control on fit sport auto question

I've noticed when going downhill, if the cruise is set to a speed lower than what gravity wants the car to have that somehow the speed is maintained. Anybody know if the brakes or the engine downshifts to accomplish this?

Thanks,
mozar

It is probably downshifting - Honda calls it something like Grade Decent Logic. If you trail your brakes for ~10secs going down a hill it will downshift as well.

Mine just reduces rpm to maintain the lower speed. If the difference is large enough it will probably downshift but its a good question.

No it doesn't break. When you enter a downhill, at first u'll feel the DFCO mode kicks in, this will reduce some speed and if the car is still going too fast then it may down shift.
