Toyota Yaris beat the Fit
why drive the egg-shaped car when you can have a Fit?

The Fit lost based on user ratings, a few people rated the Fit very poorly, one guy seemed to like the Fit but gave it an overall rating of 5 because he seemed to be butt-hurt that he can't afford to drive his gas-guzzler around anymore.
MSN gave the Fit 9, the Yaris 7 and didn't even rate the Accent. So, the Fit is still a winner in my eyes.... Although, I'm in the market for a new car and we're going with the Cube, not the Fit... ah,well. I still love my 08.

Looks like Hyundai finally figured out how to increase their reliability over Honda... pay off JDPower
I call bull-shit. Toyota quality right now is in the gutter too, the Yaris has all kinds of quirky problems.
I have had my car now for 2 years and ZERO problems

problem with these low end cars is a lot of folks buys these cars for the first time in their lives and have extremely high expectations. if a dash rattles they'll be like "WTF THE DASH RATTLES ON A BRAND NEW HONDA??!! "
where as a guy like me who have owned 20 cars
will be like 'there's really no perfect car. a little
dash makes it very JDM' and doesnt complain.
but those that buy yaris and hyundai's are typically
folks that have no interest in cars and more worried
about making their rent each month so a little rattle
dont bother them.
it really comes down to that on most of these JD Power
stuff. it's very demographics driven and you need to
understand their psychology before making much out
of the data.

Totally Agree~
People but the Yaris or Assent are mostly limited by the price factor. So they can only buy what they can afford - and I guess Fun is not a factor for them =\

thats true of fit owners too though.
regardless of what 80% of this forum will tell you, i'm pretty sure MOST folks bought thier fit because it was affordable, not because of how it handles. that just the icing on the cake.
and paying a couple grand more for a fit over a yaris is only a 40 buck a month stretch that some folks may have paid for the handling/looks/interior, but at the end of the day, its still an entry level car that people buy due to price and mileage.
and to the OP: i agree with sugarphreak on the jd power ratings. they only rate initial quality. i'm pretty sure EVERY car maker would get buy on initial quality. it 5 years down the road that honda built its reputation on.

was in the market for the R32 which was going to be
$35K out the door and was ready to pay cash for it.
i bought the Fit because it's cool and reminded me of
my old 1990 civic HB which was also an awesome hatch.
(and the R32 only came in AT).
and to note, when i received the JDPower survey, i
have to be honest... i tossed it.

The sound deadening in modern cars make it possible to hear the little things that rattle or make wind noise in the cabin.... Old VW air cooled beetles didn't rattle but if they did you would have never heard it due to the engine noise.... If British sports cars and 60s muscle cars didn't resonate with exhaust and intake noise they would have sounded like a coffee can full of marbles.

I will have had my Fit 3 years in 3 weeks. My dash still doesn't rattle and even the battery is still working fine..... I do my own maintenance and avoid the dealership overcharges and have had no problems with the car..... Buying extended warranty for a Honda is crazy, they just keep on going.

In the good old days I believe people used to call those quirks "character." Old Jaguars, Alfa Romeos, Lotuses, Aston Martins etc. all had little annoying things that were actually much more serious than what these whiners are complaining about with cheap cars nowadays.
By the way, same here, my car's four years old and I have zero dash rattle. It IS prone to sprouting rust spots though.

Gotta agree. J.D. Power has very little credibility in my eyes. And as far as the dash rattle is concerned, I had one, and it seems to have corrected itslef. Only thing I can figure is that the plastic parts have settled, much like a house settles, to the point where they don't rub anymore.
They can all be made to be great performers, but the Fit is great right out of the box.

those J.D. guys are payed off. How else do they stay in business? advertising? ya right... I bet, when given the choice 90% of humans would choose the Fit. the other 10% are the ppl more closely related to the ape...
