Several of the parts stores rent tools for cheap. Autozone rents tools for free, in essence. You basically pay for the tool and get your money back when (if) you bring it back.
That said, I'd go with tint from a reputable installer. My LLUMAR tint ran $165 installed, with a 'anywhere we have a dealer' warranty.

Tint those windows! The car just looks cooler with darker windows. Go as dark as you legally can, especially on the back window. No one can see what's in your hatch. Remember, it has to be LEGAL.
I hope your tint shop can do your small triangular A pillar windows, some states consider those part of the windshield but they tinted mine here.
"New York Window Tint Law
New York Tint Law Enacted: 1991
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN NEW YORK?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In New York, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. WindshieldNon-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield. Front Side WindowsMust allow more than 70% of light in.Back Side WindowsMust allow more than 70% of light in.Rear WindowAny darkness can be used."
Yeah, they can do the small triangular windows. I'm going as dark as possible while staying legal. I guess I'm getting 5% on the hatch window and 35% on the front and rear door windows.
I probably could but I want the darkest tint allowable. It's funny though because my last car, Prelude, had 35% on the front doors and I think 20% on the rear window and small side windows. Never had trouble though because that 20% wwas on non-door windows. I don't want any tickets. Just a clean, leave me alone, ride.

Now $165 sounds good. Hey Fitguy07 put some pics up once you get the tints done.

Well, I actually had less $$ than I thought so I'm holding off on the tints for now. I may not get them done at all, depends on if I want to go for that extra clean look with the clear glass. I ordered the JDM badges and PIAA Ion Yellow H11 lights instead.
