How wide of a wheel can you run?

Hi I'm looking at some BBS RS reps and they come in 16 x 7.5 or 15 x 7. I really want to go with the 16 in wheel but I've never seen anybody running wider than a 7" wheel on their Fit. Its a 20mm offset for both and I'm on stock suspension but my future plans are coilovers and I'll roll the fenders if necessary.

I'm running 15x8 in the rear and 15x7 in the front with 26 offset.
I know another member is running 15x9 with spacers.
For your set up you will need to roll, pull, and cut off the rear bumper mounting tabs. Running stretch tires will help as well.

At some point running wider wheels/tires is just adding more weight and reducing steering response. Sometimes running a stickier tire will get you the same results. Unless you are after wider wheels for asthetic reasons.

Alright cool. I hear you on the adding extra weight, ideally I want 16X7 and may end up going with a different wheel but still wanted to hear what you guys had to say. Wrapped in 215's then? I'll be autocrossing this at least 4 times this summer and wondering what the best width/tire combo is.

16x7.5 in a +20 offset is not going to fit correctly. You will have to pull, roll etc to get them to fit as well as stretching the tire to get rid of rubbing. Stick with stuff that fits your car if you will be racing the car. a good 15x7 or 16x7 on 205 or 215 tire will better your handling rather than a 16x7.5 on a 195 tire. Alot of times tires too stretched will make you fail a tech inspection at a SCCA or SOLO event. Wide low offset wheels only look cool on cars that can fit them. IMHO

Is a 15x8 with a +35 offset, and a stretched tire going to fit?

Yes, you will have to roll the fenders.

^ yes, 195/50. On a 8" wide wheel the tire will have a little stretch which will help with clearance. It will be close since the wheels are 8" wide.If fenders pulling is needed it will be a mild pull.

The reason you don't see many wheels over 7" wide is there isn't any reason to do so. And the successful wheels have 40 to 50 mm offsets, depending on tire size or lowering.
195/40x17, 205/40x16. and 205/50x15's are the better choices for tires that don't screw up your suspension, acceleration, mpg, or rub.

Replicas? Really? Nah I kid, I'm not hating... haha.
I'm running real BBS 7.5 wide with a 20 offset. Check my threads. Fronts need stretched tyres. Like alot of stretch to fit them. Unless you run alot of camber.
Rears need a bit of stretch a your fenders roll'd.
It all depends what your going for.
Form or Function?

I'm a massive fan of proper STANCE so I'm into stretching tyres etc.
It's all down to what you want to do.
