They're not too shabby for street use; a lot of hard driving, autocross, or aggressive metallic/semi-metallic pads may do a number to them though just as a heads up. I warped the absolute HECK out of my pair though autocrossing though and the Carbotechs seemed to just munch away at them for some odd reason.

Seems like a no brainer to me. Get the $6000 and fix up your car for under a couple thousand.

Keep in mind that salvage title is gonna basically ruin your resale value maybe it wouldn't be a terrible idea to keep the fit as your project and slowly fix it and then put 6k down on a new car?

Cool. I didn't mind running EBC USR850s too much with my Hawk Performance Ceramic pads...at least when the pads are at operating temp (pads stayed cold on highway trips). I'm guessing the more aggressive cold bite that he HPS pads have is good enough to counter act the cooler pad temps.
In regards to the ABS light... did you happen to do a visual check to make sure nothing was left loose or had come disconnected during the install? Also made sure that brake line was not twisted/spun and allowed to kink along with ensuring that the rotor was sitting flat on the hub's surface.

i think it may have munched up the abs sensor or something somehow. I'm not exactly sure. i was gonna take it to pep boys to have the abs light read but they don't have the code reader for that so i need to wait and figure out who has one. if its just the sensor ill just swap that out next week. (I'm hoping its that or less sever and that i didn't mess up the abs system worse) As for the yellow stuff i used to run red stuff and i can't find it anymore for the fit but those pads were awesome. they did go pretty quick though. i don't auto x but when the mood strikes i like to take my car up in the canyon or too the mountains.

Is this a hitachi coil? says made in Japan. I see this exact coil being sold under different brand names.

Alibaba is generally Chinese companies who mass product stuff for hella cheap. Quality usually isn't very good from what I've heard.
