2002 Jazz/Fit Fuel Pump issue
Hi guys,
My wife has a 2002 Jazz (Fit everywhere else I think) which she was driving the other day. She parked it came back 15 minutes later and it wouldn't start.
I tried the standard stuff to ascertain it wasn't the battery. So anyway tried some ether in the air filter and hey presto she starts briefly so I'm thinking yep fuel issue.
You cannot hear the pump start up when you turn the ignition on. I was going to change the fuel pump and pulled the panels off to have a look at it. Pulled the power lead off the pump/filter assembly and then put it back on. Then I heard the pump kick in next time I tried the ignition. The car actually started briefly but then died again.
So I've been going through the manual and testing voltages and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but voltages at the relays seem fine and continuity to the pump assembly is fine but there is only about .2V DC at the pump assembly and this doesn't change when the ignition is turned on or off.
Any ideas guys? I should point out I haven't yet tested the voltages etc at the ecu as I'm not entirely sure how to get to connector 31p on it. Is it passenger side? Any instructions on how to get the required panels off as my manual doesn't have it. Anyone had issues like this or have any ideas?
I'd appreciate any help guys I fix photocopiers for a living not cars so I'm doing the best I can.
