2008 Fit - Died, No start
I do not drive my fit in the winter, so every now and then I start it up just to be safe. I did so a few days ago and left it running for 15 mins.
I came out to hear it had died, stalled. When I opened the door I got a overwhelming smell of burnt electronics. I later discovered that the battery was also suddenly almost dead.
I charged the battery and attempted to start the car a few times since then, but all I get it a crank no start situation.
I have checked the large fuses under the hood, I have also pulled out the ECU and they seem fine.
Any help as to where to focus my efforts would be great.
Thanks
Steve

Did you check the battery terminals? I had to get mine jumped a few weeks ago and the PO had done some janky work to the positive wiring harness the tow truck driver and I had to redo... the positive connector looks to be overly complicated and failure prone.

After further investigation I found a coil pack that was melted. That tripped the ignition fuse.
New fuse and she runs on three fine now.
From all the searching I did I never came across mention of this ignition fuse before.
Either way ordered 4 new coil packs from ebay, should be here in a couple weeks.
Considering I was picturing a ball of melted wires up under the dash, this is a welcome problem.

If you planning to run on 3 cylinders disable fuel injector for bad cylinder or you will be replacing catalytic converter. Melted coil is often caused by spark plug that works itself loose in the head. What was the problematic cylinder number ?
