the motor isn't working any harder than it is when the a/c system is not running, its still turning the pulley no matter what, the only difference is that the compressor is powered on electrically.

so if you would truely like to save on gas mileage you're going to have to pull you're entire a/c compressor out of the engine bay, or just disconnect the belt
