It may make for shorter shifts but they will not be as short as the Skunk 2 or other shift lever extensions. Just using simple physics you can figure it out. The extension types make the distance from the fulcrum longer and shift throws shorter because they raise the shifter body for clearance to extend the bottom portion of the shift lever increasing the distance from the fulcrum point to the bottom of the lever.
Leaving the shifter housing in the stock location you can't make the distance as far away because you run into the floorboards because of lack of clearance. Therefore the change in the length from the fulcrum has to be shorter. The result being longer throws with this type of kit changing the lever only as opposed to ones using longer levers available because the shift body is raised for clearance.
