HPS SRI finally installed. Here is my initial review.

So one of the audio installers had nothing to do for about 30 min so asked if he could install it while my tweeters were being looked at. The tweeters ended up being blown and they'd have the new ones in a few days. I left. When I pulled out on the highway (wholly shit batman)... It has been a very mild winter (60's-70's) until yesterday when installed (low 50's). Here's the observations i saw/felt in the butt...

Low-end: Pulled much harder probably 5hp but gained 5-10 more torque.
Mid-range: Torque was flatter band 3-5 more hp and 5tq.
Top-end: OMG... felt like after VTEC X-over @5500rpm at WOT the power kept building to like 8-10hp. Crazy top-end.

I must also tell you when i looked at the hood, it has the piece that directs the cooler air from the grill dumping it str8 into the filter. The only reason to get a CAI is to not get heat soak at lower rpm range when accelerating. I dont know if you guys put 2 and 2 together.

Nice. Hows it sound? Can you actually hear when VTEC engages?

Congrats! I got one too, pairs nicely with the tanabe touring medalion. I had the same thought with the under hood air flow. I thought of heat shielding and remaking the grill to open up the scoop.

Where did you order yours? I'm still on the fence about getting one because of people saying that the power increase is only temporary and the ecu will undo any gains. Also, how is the noise level at highway speeds?

YES... I looked on YouTube.com before I purchased an intake just for that reason. VTEC X-over is like a drug...lol. I've owned 13 Honda/Acura products since 98 (19yo). That's why i hate CVT's and bought 13' including other things mainly it's the 2nd Honda left built in Japan.

I just got this MagnaFlow muffler. I plan to keep the resonator and do weapon-R downpipe. Removing the resonator and doing a str8-pipe sounds like complete RICE/Gross.... I love the Tanabe Touring Medallion. That's the sound I like but was out of my my budget. I've always bought bought Apex-i WS2 Exhaust for the mellow sound.

Im heading to my buddies Exhaust shop to get price. I'll also record the HPS Intake b4 exhaust and down-pipe is done. Ill record after exhaust, then after adding down-pipe. so members. can hear each. Im going for a good sound and btw keep in mind that im auto. We need as much extra power that we can get. I'm an all-motor guy so i plan to do the re-flash and cam which will make VTEC even more aggressive and mmmbAAAAA LOUDER.

Cheers guys/girls,
Des

Not sure what reflash you are talking about, all I've found so far is piggyback units. Aem and ktuner.

Ktuner is not a piggyback unit. It is used to reflash your stock ecu.

Well it is difficult RSX strong. It's not a twin cam with aggressive lobes. The sound is noticeable and will be more so with Jun Cam or crowed cam.

I think you're really over stating the gains here.

Agreed. I bought it just to see. Used it for maybe a week or 2 but couldn't stand it and sold it. May have had more to do with my tune but it KILLED my low end torque (thinking you may be confusing with throttle response with tq/power?) and there isnt much to begin with. Saw minimal if any gains up top as well. I had to rev to 5k just to get the car moving with this thing. You can take all my opinions with a grain of salt because I have the cam and I was tuned with that and the takeda CAI.

I have people asking me about this intake all the time. It's cheap. Sounds decent (not as good as PRM). Gives you a bit of top end (from what ive heard). Guess most people would be happy with it.

I stated to not expect RSX/SI. Its def a step up on x-over. It makes the drive more entertaining. He ask if heard VTEC which I did. But 3500 the intake resonance comes In and there is def a huge pull in mid-range. Am I wrong? There's is no reason for me to lie about a product lie about a product I don't work for. Hell i represent bean garage here. I couldn't get the a discount because we don't carry it. Right now. It's for my entertainment and what power I yields. The day before it was 70 . install day way 40.the gain was huge. To feel the power I need to pull on I-40 during light traffic. If u have a pic of undercarriage I may have bought a bigger. Muffler (think Apex-i WS) because I don't do rice /rasp.
