Wiring up gauges
I've searched the forum and can't find any good How to's. I'm going to be mounting a volt and water temp gauge above the centre vents. What would be a good point to tap into for dimmer settings and for the 12v read out?
Before anyone says, buy this OBD blah blah blah, I have these gauges in hand and will be installing them, I just need some pointers.

Ok I've got everything sorted out with the gauges now. I didn't take any install pics but here's how I wired them. For my switched source I used the positive wire on the cigarette lighter, for the ground there is a ground point on the dash framing behind the radio. For the lights I tapped the positive wire on the ambient light above the cup holders. My signal for coolant I ran thru the big grommet on the firewall.
My issue with the coolant gauge was that the housing was not grounded. I put the sensor in an inline rad hose coupler (same that's used in the other coolant gauge install). After a quick chat with Autometer the rep said to take an eye connector and thread it onto the bottom of the sensor before its mounted in its housing and go to chassis ground.
