0-60 Time

I don't know what the 0-60 time is ( does it really matter..... it is a honda fit...... )
Hp and tourqe specs for 09 fit is 117hp@6600
106 lb/ft @ 4800
Don't know specs of 2000 Civic Ex m/t

Not saying the 0-60 time "matters". But it is a way to measure power against power. Not like im going to take a stock fit to the drags. Just wanted to know if it will have the same get up and go my Civic has.

IDK. My 2000 only has 109 horse power with a curb weight of 2554. 09 Fit with i-Vtec has 118 horse power with a curb weight of about the same give or take 10/15 lbs. I think it would come down to how fast you can shift a manual. IDK though.

The '00 civic will be quicker.
Stock, the y8 made about 95-105 whp on the MT depending if you have a freak motor or not.
Pretty much guaranteed an L15A7 AT won't make more than 80 whp, and the new fit weighs as much if not more than the EJ8 civic.
I think you'll find that Honda's 117 hp rating now is close to a 125 hp rating then. Remember a couple years ago most of their vehicles were rated lower in power (without losing any) because the methods of measuring were changed, i.e. CRV went from 160 hp to 154 hp on the same engine.
If both had manual trannies... similar weight, similar hp/tq at similar rpm, shorter gears on the MT fit = win for the fit.

Well for one the i-vtec in the Fit has nothing to do with power, it's not making your car faster than a car without vtec. Secondly, the power loss with an automatic is greater than a manual. The GD3 automatics made about 10hp less at the wheels compared to the manuals. So if you figure the Civic is doing maybe 90 at the wheels, you can probably expect around 90 at the wheels with the Fit due to the automatic. It'll be pretty close and I don't think you'll notice much of a difference. The edge might be to the Civic because gearing tends to be shorter in manual cars.

my fiance's '07 sport AT feels just about as quick as my old '01 civic EX MT(127 hp) was. my MT base fit feels quicker.
the power the weight ratio advantage of the new GE8 fit should make it a little bit quicker than the previous GD3 fit in a straight line.
on a side note... the shifter in my old EM2 civic was butter smooth. i loved that shifter. i could shift so quickly in that car.

Honda promises that the 09 will indeed be a little quicker than the old one. Car and Driver got a good sample of the 1st gen and managed 8.7 secs to 60, but most of the ones tested come in around 9.0 - 9.3 with manual.
Magazines expect the high 8 secs to 60 for the 09.
