Malfunction Indicator Lamp

Malfunction Indicator Lamp
Hey guys! New to Fit Freak and just got my Fit Sport 09 3 weeks ago. I know this topic has been put up in a different section before but just had to make a new thread about it in the 2nd Gen Fit area. The other day the Malfunction Indicator Lamp turned on and i've only driven my fit for 580 miles total. I was pretty much annoyed as to why it turned on. I did refuel it the day before it turned on BUT i made it a point to tighten the fuel cap as much as possible, maybe 5 clicks. But up to this point the damn light doesn't turn off.. Guess have to go to the dealer and have it checked.. Anyone else experienced this on their new Fit 09??

I finally went to the dealer yesterday and they diagnosed that there was something wrong with the ECT Sensor. Luckily for me they had the last piece at their warehouse and that they would replace/install it today. So i drove back there again today only to hear that they did install the new one but somehow it didn't fix the problem....the Malfunction Light is still on! They explained that there might be other problems in play and they couldn't find what was causing it. SO they told me that i have to go back there on Saturday to leave the car in order for them to dismantle the electrical stuff and find out whats wrong with it.. They don't have any idea whats wrong with it coz they haven't receivd books from Honda for the new Fit. Honda should have sent out these books (troubleshooting books??) to the dealers before they released the Fit!
Just 600 miles and some sensor broke down... Doubt of its durability comes into play.. Or i just receivd the only sucky Fit around..

Wow! Sorry to hear about your problem. Honda definitely SHOULD have sent any necessary diagnostic books to dealers before selling the cars.
Don't mean to be selfish, but I hope you got the only sucky Fit around. Maybe your problem will result in a service bulletin that will make solving it faster and simpler for the rest of us, if we get it at all.

"SHOULD" being the key word. When the 06 Civic came out, we had the car several months before the books came out. Its pretty hard to diagnose without the books and the same information isn't on the computer either. Honda doesn't print the manuals.

I think I would be finding a new dealer... all of their manuals for the new fit are available online to them. So even if they don't have the hard manual they should be able to go to the electronic one. Plus they should be able to interrogate the cars computer to tell what the fault was caused by. It has tons of info stored on it.
Sounds like a buba-ship instead of a dealership to me.

Malfunction Indicator Lamp
I've had my '09 Fit Sport for two months, and today the Malfunction Indicator Lamp came on and stayed on. I guess I'll have to take it to a dealership too. Honda, what's going on here?!

I think these are random occurrences. If the problem is widespread enough, Honda may generate a technical service bulletin (TSB). A recall is generally for a flaw or failure present in most cars of the same model, if not all. These isoloated cases hardly qualify.
