Resetting maintenance minder (specifically tire rotation)
Hi all,
I just got my oil changed for the first time at 10,000 miles. I did not do this at the dealer. The MM oil life gauge is easy to reset, and I did that. However, I also got my tires rotated, and I would like to reset the MM so it doesn't get out of sync with my tire rotation schedule.
Is there any way to reset this without going to the dealer?

Well, I'm really anal, and having MM things come up and stay up would probably annoy me.
I read through the manual and didn't see that blurb about reseting. What do you guys think .. do you rely on the MM for anything? If I reset the entire thing after just getting my tires rotated, nothing else will be accurate.

I rotate my tires by observing them, measuring them, and rotating them when they need it. Unlike oil life, tire wear is a parameter I can observe for myself and deal with without a nanny watching over me.

Well to answer your question cycle to the screen that displays oil life. Hold down that button for like 10 seconds. Release when the screen starts blinking, then hold down again until the blinking stops and the oil life reads 100%. I'd like to think that if I can drive a car I can remember to maintinence, but I guess there's too many people who don't.

You sound like me. I don't even like having the head/fog light "minder" lit up on the dash. Can you imagine someone riding up alongside me and thinking there is something wrong with my Fit?!

Actually, I find the headlight "on" lamp to be useful when I start out at dusk or dawn, since the instrument lights are always "on".
To answer the OP's question. The tire rotation code is, I believe, timed to the oil change, so you can have everything done at once. The owner can only reset the entire maintainance minder, not individual items. Only a service center having the Honda diagnostic scanner can clear individual items from the maintainance minder (at least that's what the service manual tells me).

I use the MM for oil change and other maintenance items. I rotate my tires on a mileage schedule as follows: after the first 5K miles on the tires and every 10K miles thereafter. My MM calls for tire rotation on every oil change, I think this is overkill. I've never had a problem using my schedule and I've been doing this since the 70s. This used to be the schedule called for on 70s vintage Fords and it just stuck with me as easy to do and remember.
