What wheels & size should I get?
Hi guys. I drive a 2010 Honda Fit Base GE8 and I've been debating a lot recently on what kind of wheels I should get and its size.
First off; the wheel size I've been debating on is whether I should stick with stock rim diameter and go for something with like 15x7 100x4 w/ 45+ offset...seeing as how this wouldn't cause any noticeable changes in acceleration, mpg, or odometer/speedometer readings. This would also maintain my ride height and allow me to lower it more in the future when I plan to.
However, I do like the looks of 16's better, and would also consider something like 16x7's 100x4 w/45+ offset... I know Fit Sports run these so... if I do decide to go this route, I'd probably get lower profile tires to compensate for that +1 inch in height increase. I don't plan on slamming my car so dropping it later should be an issue, only that the limit would be slightly less.
Performance wise, I plan on keeping my 15in steelies for AutoX purposes, since they don't allow adjustments in Diameter or width for H-Stock. But I still want the best performance possible for street driving; and also in case I ever decide to bump my class up to where wheel size doesn't matter.
All in all, I just want the ideal wheel size for me that looks good but performs even better.
So, Performance > Looks, here.
Style wise, I like anything from Deep Dishes, Single Spoke (no more than 7), and Split Spoke. Considering looks like Rota Boost or TRmotorsports C1 to name a few.

First, the wheels have nothing to do with the gearing,ie the speedometer and odometer readings; its the tires that matter. So 15, 16, and seventeen inch wheels work as long as you choose good tires and thee
right size.Fr the street 16's are a good choice shod with good but decent tread wear tires. I'll let you ferret thru TireRacks specs and tests to see what your pocketbook and performance wants agree with. Around here the A?Xers have pretty well settled on 205/50x15 tires. They are a trifle smaller in diameter to make up for the extra weight. The street versions generally have gone with 205/45x16 or 205/50x16 tires. A few have gone with 195/40x17 or 195/45x17 tires for better looks and more precise handling. I don't know if anyone a/xed with the 17's but common sense says their increased precision from the lower sidewalls and fairly low weight might be an advantage.

PS all the tires mentioned here have diameters slightly smaller than stock but not enough to matter on odometer or speedometer readings. Just enough to yield better acceleration and traction on pavement.

Please use this to calculate your tire size to match your factory stock size, othewise you speedometer will have wrong reading (put in the stock size and play around with the new ones that you plan to put on)

I don't exactly know how much it weighs. I've seen the 17's in the flesh and it looks really awesome. It weighs in at 21.5 lbs. I'm guessing that the 16's will be as heavy as the stock sport rims. That's the reason why I'm getting lighter tires than the stock Dunlops. Overall, I'll probably be like 2 lbs lighter than stock sport. I have 15" steels on my Base @ this time and it weighs exactly 32 lbs. I won't be able to beat/match that without spending a fortune, IMO. Happy hunting bro!

Awesome inputs guys! So far, I'm leaning towards 16x7s. Looks like it shouldn't effect performance too much. But still that ride height issue.
Also, what style wheels are all you guys running?

Please use this to calculate your tire size to match your factory stock size, othewise you speedometer will have wrong reading (put in the stock size and play around with the new ones that you plan to put on)

realize that unless the diameter changes by more than 3% the effect on odometer and speedometer is negligible. When calculating the new diameter, always compare it to your starting diameter. If the ratio is more than 1.03 or less than .97 the effect negligible, amounting to 30 miles on a thousand on odometer or 1.8 mph change on your speedometer at 60 mph. But significant to acceleration or mpg.
BTW you should check the tire specs onTireRack.com cause the calculated diameter is not always that precise and (supposedly) TireRack posts the specs provided by the manufacurer. The weight does matter and whenever increasing tire weight due to greater width always reduce the diameter by even a small amount to make up for the increased weight at a lesser radius.

I got the c1 in 16x7x42 with 205x55 tires.
I believe my mileage is actually 2mpg worse.
Shows as 4 worse.
I like the sound of the engine better. But the car performed better with the 24 inch diameter setup.
For appearance and acoustics reasons I will likely stick with this size next time.

What made you get 205/55s?
205/50s are what you needed.
