Passenger seat rattle.

The first time driving my fit alone I noticed that the passenger seat has a pretty significant rattle coming from the handle underneath the seat that the passenger pulls up on to adjust for leg room. Even the smallest of bumps in the road cause the handle to bounce and rattle. I doesn't happen when someone is sitting on the seat because for some reason the weight of the person stops it from rattling. Has anyone else noticed this and if you fixed it, how did you do so? It's such a tight space under there that I can barely get my head down there to see what I need to do to fix it.

Stuff a rag in there (at least temporarily) to see if it is the seat-adjust handle.

I turn up the radio. Or alternatively adjust the tilt (the rattle may be coming from the active head restraint mechanism.

Also check the bolts anchoring the seat, I think on some models these were part of a campaign to torque correctly.

if you can reproduce the sound with your hand, how about you take the finishers off the front, unbolt it from the floor and turn it over and see? it's not hard to remove the seat.

or, take it to the dealer for warranty repair?

There is no corralling the brute power of a SOHC iVTEC with 117 HP. It has to come out somewhere!

Maybe it's an obvious question, but have you tugged fore and aft on the seat to make sure it's fully clicked into place on the adjustment track? Possibly it could make a difference if it's not.

Slip an elastic band on it then take the other end up and put it on a spring end or something higher than it under the seat.

Good idea...I will try this as a temporary fix until I take it in for my next service.

I have tried moving the seat etc and I have replicated the sound at a stop so I know it's coming from the handle of the seat adjuster.

My 2013 Fit Sport has the same rattle coming from the seat adjuster bar. I can lightly touch the bar and the rattle goes away. If I move the seat to the furthest rearward position the rattle stops. My Fit is my commuter car so I don't have rear passengers much. So for now I'll just leave the seat positioned fully rearward with no rattle.
