Anyone own GE and 9th gen Civic both?
Anyone own a current generation of both the Fit and Civic? How does the ride compare between the two? What about the noise level? I've had Civics before, maybe a 3rd gen or so wagon, a 7th coupe and an 8th sedan. The 8th sedan was a great car. I may be in the market for a car soon and thinking about a Fit but want to get a good ride and NVH like the 8th sedan. Anyone have direct info on the two current models? Thanks.

All I can say is that I have a friend that test drove the two recently. He drives a lot for his job ~40k miles a year. He was originally leaning towards the Fit before test driving. He said that the ride for the Civic was noticeably better so he opted to pay a little more and get the Civic.

I had rent the civic for a month before I buy my Honda Fit,
The Civic had more comfortable ride,
but the noise inside is about the same.
The latest Civic is also a noisy car.
The civic do have more stable ride (stock Civic vs. stock Fit)
due to larger wheelbase, track and lower center of gravity.
it is also faster of course,
but
The civic steering is really really bad...
you just do not feel the road with Civic steering,
and the car wander easily on freeway speed because of the steering that is NOT
accurate...
The interior also do not looks as good as Honda Fit interior design...
But what make me NEVER want to buy the current Honda Civic is,
the looks is NOT as good as the Previous Honda Civic,
and of course not as good as our Honda Fit.
oh... one more thing, our Honda Fit is still Made in Japan

my buddy owns an 8th gen civic SI and his wife has a 2013 fit
He doesnt have any complaints about either, even says Fit is easier to get into.
Fit is skittish on highway only because the factory tires suck donkey balls and stock springs are too soft
Get whichever suits your purpose. Point A to Point B, get the fit.
More then one passenger is up for debate. Fit can handle adults in the backseats decently well

I had both 2013 civic lx sedan and fit sport for a couple of months. IMO, if u need a more comfortable and quiet ride with more power, go for civic.
Or if u r like me, preferring fun to drive car with a bold, stand out look (I dont like the look of civic) and adequate power go for fit sport. Paddles are fun too.
All of my friends avoided a hatchback saying sedan would provide them better protection in a rear crash. For some reason, I couldn't bring myself to choose a sedan over fit sport. I love the way it handles, lots of fun.
Good luck with your purchase.

I'm sure the Fit has adequate power. My hero was the tortoise not the hare. I just want to be sure the ride is comfortable as I plan to keep the car maybe 13 years until my grandson can drive and then it can be his first car.

If you don't need the utility features of the Fit, then Civic is the better choice. They get the same (if not better) gas mileage. The ride is nicer and cabin noise is quieter.
I would probably also be driving a Civic, if I didn't need all that cargo space. But I use it on a regular basis, even when going to Costco. Couldn't fit half of the stuff in my old 4dr Civic that I could in the Fit.
Also, in my opinion, the Fit is much more fun to drive. It's slower, but handling is much superior to the Civic.

I may have to take back what I said earlier, as I also enjoy a tight-handling car. It would be tough to choose between the Civic and the Fit, based on ride quality, comfort, and handling. There is a 270 degree on-ramp in town that is quite fun in the Fit.
