Opps I ruined my a/c
A/c was always weak. Finally after years of dealing with It I hooked up a can/guage and it was a little low. I charged it to the desired level for temp per the can and the car started to idle really low and almost die. Then the compressor stopped I assume since the guage remained pegged to match the high side. Now with the level up the fan will kick on and car will idle down when I hit the switch. But you can see that coolant does not recirculate and blows no cold air.
There are 2 30A relays that are related to a/c in the underhood fuse box. Testing/replacing those be a first step I assume? Using the article below as reference.
Any other input of what to check? Wife wants to kill me btw.

Sounds like a problem with the high pressure sensor, clutch relay, and/or expansion valve. And probably too much refrigerant. See if you can rent/borrow a good set of gauges. At this stage an A/C tech would probably evacuate it (requires vacuum pump) and charge to the specified levels before any more trouble shooting.
Here's a link to the Honda A/C test shop manual pages.
Depending on the wife, the cheapest solution might be to take it to a shop that does A/C work...

Are you saying: if he's married to Julianne Hough, keep her; if not, it is cheaper to keep the car and get it fixed???

You are supposed to have the car running and the AC running full blast when you are adding.
If you didnt, better go to a shop and have them check it out. Too much pressure can do WAY more damage then most people realize

Hey man,
Very similar issue happened to me a few years ago with my older civic .. Just wasn't blowing cold. So I get the freon, the gauge, and get to pumping ...
FIlled it with the car off .. filled it to the registered level .. turned the car on .. no more ac at all with it on. I fixed it tho .. illegally .. mother earth hates me now .. but my organic self and wife do not. I let out a bunch of freon .. afterwards it blew super cold .. still does to this day.
So while hippies will hate my reply .. give it a shot first before spending a few hundred for them to do the same thing.
Good luck.

OH I've let some out till it got below green. Added again, etc. Wife hates me, it "worked" well enough to use before. I tried new relays, checked fuses. Guess the pro's will have to look on Thursday. Praying I make it without being stabbed. My camaro is blowing ice cold honey

Well I guess following the can instructions cost me $1300+ Honda says the coil is out and they won't replace it without doing the clutch also, which are on national back order. My other choice was to a get a kit at napa for $600 and with labor it'd be $1600. Wow. I'm going to take it to another shop, I'm sure the dealership prices are pretty inflated.

Lol, thankfully the fit has been a great trouble free car so far. I'll stick to my own stuff for major work. Front brakes will need to be done before winter. If I happen to mess that up I get to go new car and wife shopping.
