Fuel Sloshing Noise

I'm sure this is normal but I've never heard this in any other car. When you have no other sound bothering you in the car and you stop, you can hear liquid sloshing around underneath you. I'm guessing it is from the fuel tank. Does this bother anyone else? I have a '13 Sport if that means anything.

My 2010 doesnt make that noise.

There may be a different fuel tank or a change to the inside of it. Could be they changed a baffle. You would have to find out if the tanks are the same to make a fair comparison.

Are there any other 2013 owners or any other year owners that hear that noise?

Normal operation for ALL Fits due to the fuel tank being right next to the drivers seat. GD and GE if you haven't heard it turn down the radio with 1/2 tank or less and apply the brakes swiftly and release swiftly at low speeds and you WILL hear it.

I just filled up so when it gets low ill try it. Im not hard on the brakes so thats why i haven't noticed it yet.

I can totally see how hard braking and a quick release could cause that.

Easy to fix with volume control!

Yep, totally normal. I hear it anytime I'm at 1/2 tank or less on my '11.

Normal in my 2010. As said, usually hear it when tank is 1/2 or below.

I have a '13 and I hear it all the time. They must of made a change, because it's so loud I don't see how anyone could not have heard it otherwise.

yah, this is normal and this has been the way since i had my '08. my 09 does it, so does my '12.

other cars ive owned also had this noise, but it was harder to hear as the tank was farther back than right under the seats.

Thanks for all the replies. I figured it was normal, but it is just odd. Maybe some day I will do some sound deadening to reduce it and other road noises.

I own a 13 MT and I hear that same noise too. I don't really think it's anything to be concerned about... It makes me laugh

The fuel tank is below the front seats to allow the rear seats to fold down flat. I hear the sloshing quite often when I pull into the garage and turn the key off and it gets quiet in there.

I hear the same noise with my 1 month old 13 Honda fit sport auto. I took the car to dealer, and the dealer said there is nothing wrong with car. The noise is from fuel tank, and it is the character of Honda fit. I just don't understand why I didn't hear it when I test drove the car.

You probably didn't hear it because the fuel tank was full. You hear it the most at half to a quarter tank.

I have an '09 and I have heard that sound before. My wife has a new Civic and I've noticed that hers does the same thing.

Still hear it when the tank is nearly full. Thank you anyway. Happy new to everyone!

I hear my gas slosh all the time and there is a reason for it. The 2013 Fit's apparently moved up the gas tank closer to the front to help with stability - so my conclusion is that the closer it is to you, the more likely you are to hear it
