V6 Honda Fit Build

Nope, Eastern Montana. Been going to Speedfactory since about 2007 so that's the only place I would go now, and all those guys are so awesome it makes the trip worth it.

Thanks guys!
Yup. Probably 6 or 7 now, going to be testing the F23 car this weekend as a matter of fact.
I'd rather it was a v6 car though!

Glad you folks dig it! Back to photos.
Got the locked seat belts back in order, still 2 more to go.
This thing got balls yo
Broke a rear wheel stud somehow. Got some extended ARP studs, just have to pull the hub.
Wanted to get a really quite idle and Summit had a $25 rebate on Dynomax mufflers so I got a VT to try out. It has a little valve on a spring to open it up at high RPM, really simple. Only problem is that in the short body they only make the center exit so I cut off the corner to clear the suspension.
So I had to make this silly snake for the back, not much weirder than the stock system so it sort of fits in.
The completed exhaust minus the tip.
Needed something to hit that sneaky $100 free shipping on Summit so I got one of their vbands, it's just okay. The way the Vibrant ones lock together makes them really easy to use, big fan of those.

Monster fit
dooood i saw this thread like 6 months ago when i had my 13 fit and thought it was too good to be true!!! I cant believe its running!! that burnout was violent! now i have the 15 fit and was thinking of doing this type of engine swap except with a J37A4 (i want SH-AWD lol) and a 9 speed automatic transmission.i just have some quick questions:
is the engine bay of the newer fits about the same as the 2nd gen? it seems like the 3rd gen has a shorter nose?
also, would a AWD conversion be applicable using the drivetrain of an acura tl v6? im really new to all this so sorry for the dumb questions.
would i be better off using a J35Y6 with FWD? and 8 speed automatic transmission? theres this salvage shop that sells beat up new cars for really cheap, they start off at 100$ bid then sell for like under 1k. (the vehicles have body damage beyond repair) soo essentially im looking at a 2015 acura tl with 4k miles on engine and tranny. and wanting to swap that into a 15 fit but was wondering if it was even possible?
sorry, i just want to engine swap my fit like you have done good sir.
this is where they sell them:
scam or jackpot for engine swaps?

Never seen a GK, only Fit I have ever seen is this one.
We use auction sites pretty often but most are so well known the cars go for pretty high.
For awd the only option for manual is the SHAWD, you will have to get the whole car and use absolutely everything and swap it into the GK, or blaze your own trail and go with a Haltech or the new AEM.
For auto it's pretty much the same story. DBC (99-04ish) is much easier and so is FWD, just have to use everything from the car to get the auto to work. Best bet is to find a wrecked low mileage 02-04 Odyssey and try it out. Lots of custom work still though.

Dang, been sleeping on updates! But here is some of the stuff from the last few weeks.
Here is another bay shot
Here is the dash before the cover was put on, still haven't gotten tunerview to talk to AEM
Temporary shifter solution, pretty funny, and really comfortable. Kind of want to keep the same knob position.
Another temp solution for holding the battery, the position is nice but the box is just tacked to the frame rail and looks pretty wonky.
Here is the crossover for the ECU connectors
For the chassis connections I pulled all the old ECU wiring back into the cab
And out of curiosity we wanted to see how 25s look, the answer is 'fantastic'
After all that she was ready to hit the open road for some SCCA.
It rained and snowed almost the whole time, I am thinking that the radiator is too big, the car had trouble getting up to temperature. When it was raining the heater air would barely even get warm, the gauges weren't hooked up, but the few times I check on the laptop the water was around 140f.
Stopped at Honda in Billings to try to get the radio code, the guy didn't seem to notice the new engine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Then some action
Firstly, the Fit is a nice car, love the room and the stock stereo, super comfortable, and the stock replacement headlights are amazing. At the same time the stock suspension is surprisingly stiff, going to coilovers won't change the ride very much. However at the track this thing was crazy tail happy, which I am going to blame on all the droop. The track had a large sweeper at the far end and the whole time the car wanted to step out, there was some water on the track and it was hella cold, but later in the day it was still amazingly loose. If there was more time I would have rigged up some limiting straps, but it was only a one day event. Car really needs my LSD tranny in it, scca with an open diff is a disaster.
Forgot to mention, car is about 3000lb and gets about 22mpg

I'm surprised it is 3000lbs though. I thought it'd be 500lbs lighter or so.
BTW: If you are willing to convert the tranny to auto and possibly add awd, I'm in the market for it (After you beat on it for a bit). PM me the $$$ and maybe we can arrange something.
The Odyssey battery looks great in there. I had that same one in my 2010 V6 RAV4. You could 'fit' a lighter Evolution battery in there as well. Was running this in my 2015 Fit for a while. It's 2lbs!
Outside of a Tesla P90D, THIS is my dream car.

AWD or even RWD would be awesome but seem a bit far fetched. As it is your car is quite badass. It kinfa sucks to have to swap the radiator with all the nice mounting work you did. Thanks for the update this has been a fun thread to follow.

Wouldn't the low temps indicate more of a thermostat issue than rad? The rad is basically bypassed if the thermostat is below setpoint. I'd be temped to just block half the rad with some plastic or cardboard.
#158
Someone else brought that up on the J forum, I will definitely be checking it out. Makes sense, always good to get a few heads in on the problem. Have to get some testing in on the temp issue, and setup the dash so I can actually monitor it.

That's the baseline from the scrap yard scale in town, when I get coils we will throw it on the good scales. There is no way that the swap added 600lb.
