I get mine at the dealer once/year. $40 for a Mobil1 oil change, Annual state Inspection, and overall vehicle inspection plus all fluids topped off and the car washed. Also Get Free Green Mountain Coffee, Donuts, and Wifi connectivity ... and... I can get work done remotely so I'm getting paid.

All that for $40, there's no way I'd do it myself. Brakes/rotors on the other hand. That I do at home.

I've got 28 quarts of 0W20 here.

But I'm at work. I don't bother to keep any at home.

I only ever have .4 quarts leftover after an oil change buying a 5 qt jug. I've changed my oil twice in 2 years so that's not even a full quart. How do you have so much?

I'm at work.

I've also got...
49 quarts of 0W40 synthetic,
40 quarts of 5W30 synthetic,
30 quarts of 5W40 synthetic and
16 quarts of 10W30 synthetic.
The 5W20 synthetic is in a bulk tank, as are the 5W20 and 5W30 non synthetic.

mobil had a rebate this spring which resulted in me getting them for half price off the usual $25 or something at walmart for the 5qt.

i just buy new stock every spring.

which reminds me, i need to do the '12 oil change soon..

Is there a shelf life to keeping this oil? I have thought about stocking up before, but I have refrained because it is often recommended to change your oil once a year regardless of miles. This lead me to believe that I shouldn't keep any oil stocked for longer than a year. Am I missing something?

Oil in a sealed container has a long shelf life, so I wouldn't worry.

I try to keep one oil change worth of supplies ahead for both the Fit and the Harley. That way, when I feel like doing the work, I don't have to make a special trip to the store.
