Respraying the Fit

So after about a year of planning and gathering, my brother, dad and I have started spraying my '09 Milano sport. The clear was failing in a few spots, and the pigment had long turned pink. We're almost done, and I thought I would share some in progress pics.

Mirror covers are Berlina black. I can pretend that part of the car is off an NSX....

Trim and such getting sprayed.

So we haven't done the bumpers and roof yet. Bumpers are gonna be the same as the rest of the car, but the roof is going to be a little different. I'll save it for when we finish the car. I can guarantee I'm going to be the only fit on this forum with what we're doing....

Yeah that was the original paint. It was nearly white in some places, it had gotten so bad.

Thanks guys for all the kind words! I'm going to try to get some proper photos of it sometime today. We just got the bumpers on the car right before the sky's opened up.

Looks great!!! May I ask you about how much did it cost to repaint the car doing the work yourself?

If you don't count the gear, such as the paint booth, guns, compressor, and such, it was just a touch under 600 for paint, clear, sealer, tape, and other odds and ends. Took us about seven weeks, when we could find time.

This is the third car my dad's done himself. If you're really curious, this was the first car he sprayed: http://www.bamacoupe.blogspot.com/?m=1

Looks good, MR is a difficult color for Hondas in general and I have seen a ton of failures

Well done!
These green paints are really a pain. Having to repaint a car of 2009 is normal for today odd with the paints used in the 90s!
Mine is a 2010 and it is white and very fragile!!! It chips easily and the shop has already repainted my hood under warranty because it chipped straight away, after 6 months.

I work with a woman who's 2009 Civic Si has just gone to shit in terms of clear and paint. Pity Hondas in general aren't getting better paint...
