New to the forums, new to Fits - hiya space fans!

Hello everybody. I'm new to the site this week ...
New to Fits too! tho I'm a long-time Honda owner.
Bought a 1990 Honda Civic SI new, then got a 2000 Civic SI new, - when it got stolen from work (really!) I got a 2004 CR-V w/36k mile ... and when they found the stolen car and insurance rebuilt it, we sold the older (red) SI ... And when the CR-V died last sunday, I test drove a new HR-V -- hated it (too numb for me) then drove a 2012 Fit sport M/T and fell in love again! What a fun car!

We bought that 2012 Fit Sport 5sp 9/30 - 42k on the clock - the burnt orange is a nice color - most of the Fits I've seen around here are some kind of blue color ...

Funny, the Fit remind me a lot of my red 1990 Civic SI!

2012 Honda Fit Sport 5sp

1990 Civic SI and 2000 Civic SI (We sold the red Si in spring 2007 after we got a 2004 CR-V EX 5sp)

Headed to Baltimore Saturday so I hit up the dealer for a set of Wheel locks ... popped em on pronto!

I also like the idea of this rubber trim strip! Like my 1990 SI had! (maybe in the spring!)

Congratulations!
Any plans for the Fit? Does it have a nickname yet?

She's Ginger Fit now, but there may be a better name later ...
... still waiting for my "bigger on the inside..." license plate frames.

I'm amazed - I've had an audio hobby for quite a while - partly helped by having a Honda CR-V with a huge interior to load big speakers and such. I pretty much figured that was over when I switched to the fit - but for grins I went out with the measuring tape t see what was up ... OMG - slide passenger seat forward and its just over 65 inches from seatback to rear bulkhead - and 18 inches wide at the narrowest point!
Probably won't be hauling JBL Studio Monitors in there, but - I could stack a pair of Vandersteens in there easily!

My first Honda was a '86 Civic Si w/ 5 speed. Loved that car! Bought it new, sold it in 1999 with 196K on the clock. Bought my 2013 Fit base 5 speed in Jan 2014, used, with 4,000 miles on it. It's a lot bigger, inside & out, than the old Civic, but gets better mileage. Am glad to have another Honda.

Took some time today & removed the FIT badge from the left and the dealer branding badge on the right rear.
Pulled them off with tight string and 90% alcohol to get the gluey gunk off - then applied Meguiar's spray & wipe wax to reseal the paint.
There are gouges on the right - looks like some idiot used a screwdriver to pry a previous dealer badge off the car
... sigh -- time to buy some touch-up paint to fill them before winter --- morons!

I am planning to do the JDM wiper mod before winter ... but I haven't decided if I will paint the rear wiper trim plate body color.
A saw some member pix of a taffeta white Fit done that way, and it looked great - but not sure it would with more orangeburst there (grin).

I might go oldschool and paint in the indented area of the tailgate with black (and the roof and the scoop area of the front hood).
And I've also considered doing the hood scoop, roof, center rear spoiler and rear trim area in a dark blue metallic - would look great against the orange,
and be different that the usual blackout painting.

I've heard one approach is vinyl wrap, and I emailed a forum member who posted about it,
but the email bounced - they seem to be unavailable now (their posts were a couple years old).

I like the sharkfin radio antenna look, but I do need to decide If I'll have the roof color changed/painted first ...

Found a can of PlastiDip spray at Home Despot - blacked out the rear chrome H an did a bit of work to the front H and grills ...

A couple days later I taped and sprayed the center of the lower grill assembly based on a picture
I saw here where someone did the same to their white Fit & I really liked the effect.

Monday after work I got glass tinted by TintFX in Fairfax, VA - I got SunTek CarbonXP (CXP) film. 8 side windows, the rear hatch glass, and a dark stripe across the top of the windshield. Front seat windows at 51% (VA law), all the rear windows at 35%.

We were on a long drive to Harrisonburg & back Sunday - a bright sunny day and there was a lot of glare.
But even tho its late in the day today, and its a gloomy day to boot, I can tell this makes a world of difference inside!

And I think it REALLY looks great against the coppery paint color!

I know it added some dupes from the other threads, but I wanted to bring this thread up to date with newer pictures
and information on what I have done since I bought the car Sept 30. I've owned it 6 weeks on Veterans' Day!

The only think left in my plans is to add a Progress rear antisway bar ...
And at some point I'll get better tires, but the Michelins it came with look brand new.
Maybe in the spring for those changes ...

A Takeda CAI will make the L15A sound very similar to the B16A in the SI. Will remind you everyday of that car when the fit needle sweeps past 5500rpm (yes fit has real i-VTEC) to 7000rpm fuel cut-off. Welcome.

First packing test of the Fit. I have to pack up my Vandersteen 3A speakers for shipment after the first of the year.
So - I need some pink styrofoam, 1" thick - it comes in 2 foot widths, 8 foot long - so I got 6 sheets at Home Despot today ...
and the Fit just gobbled it up! I could have fit a dozen or more ... but I only needed 6 sheets ... Amazing!

Thanks - I like a subtle approach.
Actually, the hardest part was doing a good job masking off around them!
I'm a 1st time newbie doing this -
I read on this forum about folks using Plastidip on all kinds of things
and I found this rattlecan of PlastiDip at Home Depot ...
did some masking and gave it a try!

Seems to be holding up fine - even the lower part of the front grill isn't damaged -
I'll have to see how it holds up to snow later ...

Thanks for the fast response! The tint and blacked out accents look great on your fit.
