Air Bag Recall done...The BIG question:Can we trust on the new replacement part???
Hi guys.It had been a long time that i don't upload a thread here in the forum. The title is just simple. My GE8 had been fix for the Air Bag Recall a few days ago.It take about 25 -35 minutes to been done.I NEVER ask at my local dealer if the NEW replacement was another Takata or a NEW vendor. My BIG question is if we can drive our cars with peace in mind that everything is OK and there is no danger driving the car with the NEW replacement part.I hope that everything is fine for ALL of us.If you car had been fix already...Did you ask at your local dealer anything about the new part?Does is another Takata?I'm just asking if you know something more that i do.I hope that everybody get your car fix really fast.I'm glad Honda call me to say that the part arrive and is ready to install. The recall was done and the car is ready for the summer.Guys....When you car is fix just drive your car safely just in case.Best wishes to ALL

Most replacements are made by TRW or Autoliv. I believe I have seen Daicel bags used on the passenger side replacements, but I could be remembering that wrong. Honda used Daicel in many models such as the 03-07 accord coupes.
All the inflators that have injured people in Honda cars have been under recall for 6 years. None of the recently added models have hurt/killed occupants. The most recent fatality was in a 2002 civic. That model was included in the very first recall for takata airbags in 2009/2010.
For the record I have changed the inflator on my accord twice as part of these recalls. I wasn't worried about my airbag before the recall and I am not worried about it now.

Honestly I'm an auto damage adjuster for a large insurance company. I have no doubt the replacement airbags will be okay and I will trust my life to them when I get the recall done. In fact, we purchased our fit with the open recall. I think we will all be just fine.
