Disabling DRLs on 2013 Fit Base Model

I have a 2013 Honda Fit. I'm trying to disable the Daytime Running Lights because I work early mornings & have to wait on a manager to open the doors. So I sit in the parking lot & the DRLs have caught the attention of police multiple times now asking "what my business is in a parking lot so early". 😒 Very annoying.

I've seen videos saying you can remain parked & pull the emergency break but that does nothing & I tried pulling the fuse. Second column, 5 up from the bottom and it disabled the daytime lights but it also disabled every light on the dashboard and now my check engine light is on after putting the fuse back in.

What am I doing wrong? Every other person seems to have pulled the fuse & had none of these problems. Thanks!

You have to start the engine while the handbrake is on.

That means park in your space, pull the brake up, then shut the engine off, then restart it.

Thank you! I missed that small but significant part of the method! It also fixed the check engine light that came on due to the fuse. Thanks so much! No more coppers!

To two bikes cops thought it "seemed suspicious" that I was in a parking lot with my "lights dimmed" (in a work shirt) at 4:50am outside of my job (same logo printed on the shirt) waiting on management for my 5am shift. They then ran my plates, called for two squad car backups, only to say they ran the wrong plates, handed me my license back & said "have a good day". It was ridiculous. Totally unwarranted & uncalled for but atleast now I won't have to "draw attention" to myself.
