Valve train noise at start up and cruising RPM

So ever since I bought this 2010 Fit a few months back it's hard some nasty valve train noise at start up and around 3000-4000 RPM during cruising. It almost sounds like a bad lifter on a LS1 with the slapping noise. I thought it was just the lost motion that needed to be replaced but had a buddy at a Honda dealer look up the VIN and said it was replaced recently (at that dealer too!). With what appears to be bad motor mounts and me wanting to replace the spark plugs (bought it with 106k miles on it) I might tear apart the top end a bit to see what the deal is.

I've searched the googles and FF for anything similar and coming up with nothing. It's just an obnoxious amount of chatter at startup (warm or cold) and while cruising.

No one? I feel like something like this has to be common on these cars. I'll be taking apart the top end tomorrow and adjusting the valves and inspecting everything.

I've got a chattering noise in my 13 Sport Manual, I've taken it to two separate dealerships and have gotten "that's normal, no repair under warranty. If you want we can adjust your valve clearances for $$$".

The owners manual clearly states to adjust the valves when they are noisy. Such an adjustment would not be a warranty claim but normal billable maintenance, like a wheel alignment. With a solid lifter (vs hydraulic) there is always going to be a little noise, but on these Honda engines not much. Its not a 1960's VW.

The fact that work was recently done on the valve train makes me suspicious that they did an incorrect adjustment. Valve adjustments are not hard, but somewhat a lost art in these days of computer-centric technician training.
