Skunk2 Short Shifter for GD installed on GE - Pictures
Found a thread that this was possible so I decided to order it and give it a go.
(I will post the instructions here, another document that I think the community could use!)
I decided to order longer bolts and 3 washers for each hole:
Shortest is stock, middle is bolts that came with the Skunk2, and the longest are the ones that I picked up from the local hardware store.
Out of fear I did decide to wack the sheet metal a little with a hammer, I gave it maybe 7-10 wacks as I knew this was where it would be hitting.
I decided to run with 3 washers.
Here you can see how much clearance I have, seems like more than enough with the three washers.
I put it all back together and I think 3 washers may be too much. The shift console hits the cup holder area slightly. I think next time I have a free half hour I will take one or twoof the washers out to see if it still hits. Or just massage the sheet metal more.
Bottom line, the Skunk2 GD shifter fits the GE shifter, just need to muscle the sheet metal a little! I'm curious if you really even need the longer bolts.
