I have a 2011 honda fit sport auto with 110,000 miles and i just got the drive belt replaced and did the spark plugs at 95,000 miles. last week my car started to make a slight ticking noise coming from the engine only when the car was warm and it would get louder the longer i drove it. It does not make the noise when I first start it but after 15 min it starts to make it and also when I put my foot on the gas it makes the noise and when i press on the peddle it speeds up the sound. I checked my oil and did a sensor reading on my cars OB II port and no codes showed up. I always check my car for weird noises just in case so this noise is not a normal one. Also I looked at other posts about ticking and nothing helped. any ideas?

 

Maybe it's time for a valve lash adjustment. Certainly if it has never been done you would not be amiss in checking and adjusting them, even if it's not the source of your noise.

 

Some people say you don't need to mess with the valves.

 

Could be the injectors -- their ticking sound is quite noticeable on many cars.

 

That may be, but those people would be disagreeing with what Honda writes in the owner's manual. Maintenance Minder sub-code 4 lists checking the valve clearance (and, presumably, adjusting if not in spec), along with replacing the spark plugs, at least for my 2012 model. Possibly the codes are slightly different in 2011, though the maintenance should not be vastly different since the engines are basically the same.
