Most common problem with GE fits?
I have the GD fits and the most common issues is the coil pack going bad around 70k miles. For GE base on what I read the most common issue is the blower fan bearing causing resistor to go bad.
Any other potential issues I should check for when looking for a GE?

Not often but sometimes, we get misfire codes and it turns out to be a loose spark plug not a $300 coil pack job ($50 diagnoses + $170 coil pack + $50 labor + taxes = ~$300).
The battery (151R) is underwhelming in cold weather.
Many are disappointed in gas mileage especially in cold weather but I imagine that small cars are more or less the same (we only complain about the FIT).

Well, you don't have to remove all of the air handling stuff above the engine to get at the coil packs or spark plugs but it does make it easier.
If you are a person that can work only with your left-hand and you can really visualize what is going on when your back is killing you while you're are bent over the fender (cover so no scratches) up to your armpit, then you too can be a DIY FIT mechanic. There are some tricks to disconnecting the coil pack trigger wire connectors. Let us know if you want to try it.

I do know that the majority of the GE8s had the airbag recall, and some also had the passenger bag air recall. So plan on getting that fixed while its still a free option.
Yes the 151r battery is underpowered and not too many companies make that size so availability may be limited.
One other cosmetic issue. The headlight UV coating deteriorates very quickly. The unique odd shape of the headlights is that they wrap around to the top of the bumper/hood area. Which means long exposure to the sun on the top portions.
I have already had to replace one headlight and due to replace another. My suggestions is every time you wash the car apply some liquid spray on wax. It will help fight the UV rays from eating up the coating.

-A lot of reported A/C issues.
-No problems with the battery and Chicago winters get darn cold.
-Some tranny issues reported. I do fluid changes more often than recommended as the fluid that came out didn't look good when I did it on schedule.
-third clutch transmission pressure sensor is a widespread problem. Fortunately it is relatively easy to replace and not expensive (~$40).

Issues
I had heater blower problems
The fan was replaced under warranty about 2 years in (2011)
Last year the rear motor mount failed but was easily fixed.
I still love my 5MT
I'm up to 83k on mine that I got 09/08
Still getting 37 mpg
