Smile Need new tires 2010 Fit Sport. Advice?

I have Continental ExtremeContact DWS A/S 205/50R 16 87Z.
Decent tires although I have had a few flats and replaced one for punctured sidewall.
Now I have 2 tires with bubbles in the sidewalls. - (snapped inner cord). Will have to replace soon.

Now that I am looking, I have always wanted a better ride: quieter but still decent mileage. The Conti's were a Little noisy but controlled well.
80/20 highway/street. Getting 31 mpg.

Thoughts?
Willing to try different tire sizes if it improves the ride.
Thanks so much.

Why don't you just call the number for Tirerack.com and ask a salesperson there? They are very knowledgeable about the tires they sell. I usually call Walt at Tirerack when I'm in the market for new tires.

I'm not a huge fan of the Yokohama's and when I get tires in a few weeks, will probably get the Sumitomo tires, because they are cheap and get great reviews at Tirerack.com.

BFG Sport Contact 2's. Lots of grip in wet and dry, decently quiet. This is a performance tire, so unless you live in the Dirty South or West... not advisable for super cold weather or snow. I've always put performance rated tires on my cars(including the minivan), but, I do live in the South.

Just ordered a set of Michelin Premier A/S 185/55R/16 from Costco. They have a promo going on now with $70 off until March 12th. I hear nothing but good things about their ride/comfort and noise levels.

Are they the OEM tires or were the OEM Dunlops? I may have paid extra for the Michelin's, but only needed 2, so bought the Sumitomo's. I was going to wait it out a bit, but have a bubble on my sidewall.

EDIT: Tires are $140 installed for 2.

Had the Conti DWS 205/50-16 but now a firm believer in the General Altimax RT43 also in 2015/50-16 on 16"x7" wheels. In Pennsylvania, so we get all sorts of weather.

Couldn't find the 215/50 r16. I did find the r17. At least on Amazon. Is that what you have? the r17?

Sorry for the fat fingers. I have 205/50-16 on 16"x7" wheels = no speedo correction.

I had the Conti DWS 205/50-16 on the stock 16"x6" wheels and those tires were squirmy and they wore quickly in 20K. The Conti sidewalls weren't stiff enough. BTW, I run 29-30 psi (smaller OEM tires 185/55-16 @ 33 psi) since you need less air in a bigger tire to carry the same weight.

The "feel" & "desire" of different tire & wheel combo are very subjective, like women - Eye of the beholder.

This is just my favorable experience with the General Altimax RT43. I have 30K on them by now. The FIT is just a daily driver, no racing, etc. At 60K, I changed my factory front brake pads for the first time and they still had miles to go.

hmmm. I can't seem to find those either...I do see the 205/60r 16 92H and the 92T

wonder if they stopped making the 50's?

There's 205/50-16 H- rated for the RT43 as stated above . Go to AltiMAX? RT43 | General Tire , click on sizes and specs . TIRERACK has them for $86.25 and Wal-Mart at $91 each .

I agree with Odie, Tire Rack shows them: 205/50-16 for $87 ea (S/H not included).

Again, the General RT43 on my cheap Focal F-10 wheels seem to work for me. You might feel another combo works better for you.

I bought the RT43 locally in 2014 so they have been around for a while.
