We get it standard here, in Canada. I don't know why.

Does that help clarify?
Does this help?

hmmm. Looks like the ledge stops front of the notch. On mine, the ledge continues, and so the rigid cover could not dip down the way yours does.

The cardboard I'm holding is below the ledge.

Meaning, I have to either hinge the cover at the notch, or come up with a new idea.

Ahhh ok, ya it doesn't look like it'll work the same way on the GE unfortunately. Keep at it though.

I say you make it hinge the other way. SO the short part closest to the back of the seat will stay flat/attached to the lip, when the larger portion pivots. Basically make a hinge/crease at the pin. Thats more or less how the OEM one works anyways. I can take pics of my OEM one if you need/want

I'd love it if you would take pics and share. Thanks.

I'll be working on it again if ever spring decides to arrive. We had a few nice days... then WHOMP.

Oy, what a crazy March we've had!

Here are some photos of the OEM cover in my 2013. There are (2) versions of the cover. Mine is the most recent version. The older version had cloth sections that clipped to the headrests to cover the space/gap in case you didn't recline the back seats. Also I think the newer one has those rubber pads to reduce/eliminate any rattling. I recall people using the door sill protectors to line their OEM covers to get rid of the rattle.

As you can see the peg is used to hold the cover in place. The cover pivots near the peg and is lifted when you open the hatch because it is attached to the hatch with clips and those strings attached to the cover. Hope these help.

Don't mind the random velcro...it was there when I was trying to get the darn OEM trunk protectors to work. Needless to say, short of installing buttons into the plastic or using an adhesive, it simply wont stay attached. Even when using "industrial" strength hook and loop fasteners that were mean to adhere to masonry =/

Nice. I think I am just going to splurge and get the OEM. I am getting scratch marks on the sides attempting to make a template. :<

Interesting, the peg slides into a keyslot to hold it.

Very helpful photos. You rock!

Fizzy, did you see how I held two pencils and created the curve that way, with the cardboard for creating the template a bit away from the ledge?

If I really wanted to do it "right" I'd have gone to the trouble of making a sturdier edging tracer. It's a real tool, too, that has a name. Can't think of it for the life of me.

Theres one on ebay right now for less than $100 shipped.

Otherwise I'd check craiglist, junk yards and even the FS section here.

Even the vendors sell at decent pricing =)
