Both ABS and VSA Lights Stay On

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a base 2012 Fit. On March 14, I drove home in a horrible snowstorm. Didn't drive it on the 15th, and the following day, went on vacation, so it was sitting undriven for 12 days. Yesterday I turn on the car and both my ABS and VSA lights are on, and stay on. Just got back from the store and they're still on.

I presume I used both the VSA and ABS when I drove during that snowstorm. But I'm wondering will they reset on their own or do I need to take it in? And more importantly, why did it happen? No use?

I LOVE my Fit, but I'll be honest, I've had more problems with the sensor lights coming on than I can shake a stick at. It seems like every time I turn around another light turns on. I would love to get another Fit for my next car, but all these bells and whistles are making me question that.

Thank you for listening and in advance for your help!
Addison

If it had no warning lights on when you parked it, 12 days later it's got warning lights on when you start it up....I'd be expecting rodents got under it and chewed wires for one of the wheel speed sensors.

Got fault codes?

Disconnect the battery and let stand for 5 minutes and reconnect. It will clear the codes. If whatever issue that triggered the code is still there the lights will come back on. At that point take it to your dealer or mechanic. If the lights are gone, then I guess you're good to go?

Hi Spike,
I haven't. Tonight I'm going to unplug the battery and see what happens! Thank you!

When my spark plugs (#2 & #3) were loose, the VSA light was on indicating that it was disabled.

It is weird how these alarm lights are strung together.

I agree! Like I said in my original post, it seems like every time I turn around one of the lights comes on. Drives me nutty! This is the first time I've had a car with this many sensors and it really makes me wonder about buying another Honda. I had two Toyotas before this and never had a problem.

Get used to it, or look for low milage older cars. It's not going away, and more systems will probably be added? I believe it was a federal regulation that all cars 2012 and newer have Electronic Stability Control or whatever acronym the manufacturer is using? Currently most of it's for loss of traction to help gain control.

Ford in their Focus RS performance model along with Subaru with the 2015 and newer WRX/STi use torque vectoring steering where it applies the brakes to help the car corner or handle better. I'm guessing most manufactures will eventually follow suit?

Frankly, other than a 500 HP rear engine Porsche the misFit is what this stuff is designed for. It's a narrow, tall, boxy little car with little wheels and skinny 185 wide tires. Not exactly a recipe for great handling.
