Hi all.
I posted before about the Horn upgrade I did to my Sport. I did the same for my wife's Base model. Did a better/neater job on hers and took pics. I was gonna go back and tweak the install on mine (extend and reroute some wires) but I got lazy.
I also read Thunder's post about stuff getting in through the air dam area around the license plate. Yikes! I could put my fist through the base model's openings. The Sport had some good size openings too. I have about 600 miles on the Sport and see some bent fins, and my wife's base has less and has some too. So I did something about it before having to incur the loss of A/C and funds needed to fix it (since impact from road debris is likely excluded from warranty coverage).
So first on to pics of the twins. Not great pics, but one day we'll get them over to the park or beach and take some better ones.
The colors on these cars are so markedly different. The orange really is copper-like. It's got a warmth to it that makes me think of cinnamon, or the warmth exuded by southwestern adobe structures and clay pots. The blue is light and cool, powdery, with a lavender pearl finish that makes me think of eye shadow or makeup or something feminine. Or jasper pottery like this:
Twins from the back...

Twins from the front...
The vulnerable Sport
No longer as vulnerable...

The base after the same mod (forgot the before pic but you could get your fist through there no problem)...
This is what I used, painted it black and wire tied it in behind the bumper. Easy enough to do with the black shroud behind the grille off..
Next the Horn upgrade...
remove the black plastic shroud held in by the pop 'ems.
Take the driver side plastic rivet out of the latch cover to get the bolt holding in the wimpy horn.
Remove and replace with the new horns, wire them up, hang the relay, put the fuse in the fuse holder connected at the battery and viola! Instant big car attitude. PS... this is before I zip tied everything neatly.
This is a clip of the stock horn:
And now for the grownup big boy horns... the Fiamm "El Grandes"... $19.98 at Advance Auto parts. Worth it, I'd say.
Ok, hope you all enjoyed the show. The Twins are certainly getting a lot of love around here. Monday baby blue goes in to get the keyless entry and security system the dealer owes us, and they both get some all season mats too.
