Pics of the "Twins" and the mods I did today... they're not identical Fits.

Hi all.
I posted before about the Horn upgrade I did to my Sport. I did the same for my wife's Base model. Did a better/neater job on hers and took pics. I was gonna go back and tweak the install on mine (extend and reroute some wires) but I got lazy.

I also read Thunder's post about stuff getting in through the air dam area around the license plate. Yikes! I could put my fist through the base model's openings. The Sport had some good size openings too. I have about 600 miles on the Sport and see some bent fins, and my wife's base has less and has some too. So I did something about it before having to incur the loss of A/C and funds needed to fix it (since impact from road debris is likely excluded from warranty coverage).

So first on to pics of the twins. Not great pics, but one day we'll get them over to the park or beach and take some better ones.

The colors on these cars are so markedly different. The orange really is copper-like. It's got a warmth to it that makes me think of cinnamon, or the warmth exuded by southwestern adobe structures and clay pots. The blue is light and cool, powdery, with a lavender pearl finish that makes me think of eye shadow or makeup or something feminine. Or jasper pottery like this:

Twins from the back...

Twins from the front...

The vulnerable Sport

No longer as vulnerable...

The base after the same mod (forgot the before pic but you could get your fist through there no problem)...

This is what I used, painted it black and wire tied it in behind the bumper. Easy enough to do with the black shroud behind the grille off..

Next the Horn upgrade...
remove the black plastic shroud held in by the pop 'ems.

Take the driver side plastic rivet out of the latch cover to get the bolt holding in the wimpy horn.

Remove and replace with the new horns, wire them up, hang the relay, put the fuse in the fuse holder connected at the battery and viola! Instant big car attitude. PS... this is before I zip tied everything neatly.

This is a clip of the stock horn:

And now for the grownup big boy horns... the Fiamm "El Grandes"... $19.98 at Advance Auto parts. Worth it, I'd say.

Ok, hope you all enjoyed the show. The Twins are certainly getting a lot of love around here. Monday baby blue goes in to get the keyless entry and security system the dealer owes us, and they both get some all season mats too.

Eric

Awesome! Like your ingenuity with the grille.

And that new horn sounds similar enough to the current Accords, sort of. So maybe I'll get that. I really want to change my horn but am timid to take the top grille off and then realize I'm stuck and don't know how to finish the job.

Great pics! I was going to go with the TWB until I learned they were bring the TW back in 09. So I held on for that. That OR is pretty great as well. So, how did you mount your new rock guard (and where did you get it)? I was looking around today, removed the top cover, looks like a fairly easy install but rather than re-invent the wheel, are you planning on posting a DIY? Sorry if you've already that question.. Fit On, bro!

My rock guard is really white plastic gutter guard (the stuff that keeps leaves out of your house's gutters - from Lowes or Home Depot), painted with black Rustoleum, left in the sun to bake on for a while, and then wire tied behind the bumper. Piece of cake.

The piece for a Sport needs to be shorter in length than it does for a base Fit. The base fit also has some tabs on the spars that span the opening, for something to snap on to. I was going to be picky about how flush to the front the rock guard gets in that area on either side, but I opted to just leave it alone. The first time I tried to make it fit better I ruined the rock guard. So I snipped it shorter and put it in the Sport.

Taking off the bumper and mounting it from behind would be something I'd do if I had the time, but for now wire ties are fine. I'll see how well it holds up. If it's something that gets trashed and needs re-doing, wire ties are easiest.

Thanks dude. Been watching your escapades into the acquisition of all the JDM parts and boy am I jealous! After buying the two cars I've got no extra scratch to spend on the JDM stuff. About all I think I'd want would be the outside mirrors that fold and heat, the harness for them, the switch, and maybe the armrest. LED tails are cool too.

Lots of desire, but without the cash handy to back it up, all I can do is drool.
