Got kids? Want to protect the back of your seats? Try this mod.

OK. Snow is upon us and the back of my seats are going to get dirty because of the kids putting their feet on the back of my seats. What to do? Well I thought long and hard about this and came up with a cheep easy mod. What I did is went to Walmart and bought a roll of that plastic carpet roll protector. It was under 10 bucks. What I did next was rolled it out horizontally and trimmed the edges. I then stuck it to the back of the seats. Stuck just fine!! So now when the kids feet hit the back of my seat, they are protected. When my kids get older and their feet dont hit the back of the seats I will remove it and it will look as good as new!!

Also as a bonus, you can not even see it unless you are sitting in the back seat. Give it a shot!!

Is that the clear plastic carpet protector? and this is for the front (driver & passenger) seatbacks?

If so I think that's a great mod to protect the seats from getting dirty in a lot of situations.

I wonder if the sharp plastic spikes will damage the fabric after repeated kickings.

it is NOT that plastic with the sharp plastic spikes on the back. This stuff comes in a roll that is tacky on one side and smooth on the other. It kind of reminds me of Renalds Wrap. All you do is push it to the back and it sticks. Wife told me a roll costs 12 bucks. You get A LOT on one roll. It is intended to be used when you have parties and you dont want people walking on your carpet. You put this stuff down, it sticks to and protects your carpet from foot marks. Also as a bonus, we had a party and I put the stuff down and did not remove it for 3 months. When i finally did get around to removing it, there was no residue left on the carpet from the sticky stuff.

I have not taken any pics of it yet and to be honest I was in a crazy hurry and didnt really do a very 'clean' job of install. BUT so far it has stayed stuck to my seatback. Heard my daughter kicking the seat back and smiled this morning, knowning that the seat is protected.

I guess my only concern is how well it sticks when it gets cold but other then that I think its worth a try.

Yeah, its the clear Saran/Reynold Wrap type. We mainly used it in construction after the carpet was installed to not get it dirty and keep it in new condition.

From my experience with that it will stay stuck for quite a while, however with time, and dust it peels slowly, but you can always re-install more.
