I have done this mod on a Dodge Ram, Dodge Stratus, GMC Suburban. Every vehicle is different. I had to add a resistor on the Stratus, remove a contact for the Ram, and cut a foil run on the Suburban.
And, I may know a few things about electrical and electronics

hey bro since you know electrical is there anyway you can find out for
us if you can add a shock sensor to our fits. some say it's possible
some say not.
i believe there is a thread or two on this. but i can't find it right now.
but if you can find out and let us know that would be great.

Good question!!!! I've been wanting to add a shock sensor as well. We never got an answer in the old thread, which I had to find...

I need the schematics....
And i am deploying, so it will be a while. But the post you linked to basically describes how to do it, a shock sensor connected to the door input should do the same thing.

What wire colors do you need Nick... I might be able to help on this one...I have alll 3 manuals now JDM, USDM & EDM to pull info from..

Well who ever I need to get the info to let me know... I have looked at the basic workings of the diagram for the security system on the USDM Fit... and it looks like it would not be to much of a problem to add a sensor... depending on how that sensor was armed.

bringing this awesome thread back up. Does anyone have the pictures from the first post. I wanna do this mod but I'd like to see the pictures so I have an idea of what to do.
Just a reminder... it is not a good idea to let the AC system in your car sit unused for long periods. The refrigerant inside helps circulate the oil when the system in on and helps lubricate internal components. If unused for long periods, the seals dry up and you can get leaks in the system.
1. Turn key to "on" (position before crank).
2. Move fan knob to "off".
3. Temp knob full blue (all the way to the left).
4. Position knob full left (arrow pointing to face only.
5. Turn key off.
6. Press the AC button and hold it down.
7. Turn key back to the "on" position and wait for 7 seconds while still holding the AC button down.
8. Release AC button and start the car.
Voila, now the AC doesn't come on automatically in defrost mode! You can however, turn it on if you're so inclined.
what a complete waste of time doing that everytime u start your car
just remove the switch behind the panel- only takes a few minutes to do!
u still have to turn on the ac periodically with or without auto defrost disabled
Well, I haven't had the AC on since October. I won't run it again until approx June. That's eight months of it sitting idle a year. If it's true that over time non-useage will create problems, I can't imagine a more perfect storm than that.
If disabling the AC from defrost floats it, rock it. But even the few minutes it takes disabling it is a waste to me. I turn it on to clear the windshield and it does it's job. Why screw with changing it? To save GAS? Please, it's a momentary function. Your foot will surely do more damage to that end than the AC running while you defrost your windshield.

I think you've missed the point. I've disabled mine and that doesn't mean that the AC will be off for 8 months. I will turn it on when dampness is an issue.
The real point is that I have control of when the AC is used with the defroster or not.
Btw. I'll probably leave the selector in the heat/defrost position all winter long and only hit the AC button when dampness causes fogging issues.

In my case, it's to save power. There is a noticable difference in acceleration if the compressor is on .vs off.
Like Virtual, it also annoys me that they take away the option of deciding how you'd like it to behave. While the AC reducing humidity does clear the windows faster, it's not always necessary. If the window has been warmed sufficiently by the heat, you won't get condensation anyway.
In winter months, I'd be inclined to run the AC briefly for the initial clearing of the "heavy breathing" when you get in the car, then use conventional heating through the defrost vents to keep it that way. Running AC will remove some heat from the vehicle while defrosting since that is its very nature. On cold days when you've just started the car, I'd prefer to keep as much heat in the car as possible. After the car has warmed up, the heating loop can obviously overpower the AC's cooling, but that first five minues or so...
