With this economy (especially in Cali), it may be possible!
Anyone get below INVOICE price?
...or not...I just came from a dealer near Westchester, CA and they're charging $4000 over sticker for all Fits and $2000 over sticker for all Accords. What nerve. Needless to say I think I was the only "customer" in the lot.
We wanted a SSM 5MT Sport Navi and had to order it. Strictly MSRP at the time--the first part of October. None to be had anywhere in the mid-West. We are still waiting for the car, but the world has turned upside down since then. I hope you get a good deal on the car you want.
Including a $1380 service contract (refundable if not used in 10 years/100k miles) it was $20075 OTD.They also added in an appearance/protection package which I could not get them to take off... the door trims, floor mats, etc.

Actually, they are more expensive in CA than almost anywhere else: demand is higher here.
If you can buy off the lot (you don't require an unusual combination like Sport MT w/ Nav) then you can get below MSRP in CA now, but not under invoice. OTOH, If you DO want a combination that can't be found on the lot, then they have you over a barrel and you'll pay a bit more. YMMV.
Eh? Does that include destination charge?
Because even if it did not... that's around $700 below invoice. If it did include destination charge, we're talking around $1370 below invoice.
Fuzzy math, or the dealer was being extremely generous.
I wonder what the lowest i could get the dealer to go on an 09 Fit Sport A/T with no extras(no nav, no extra floor mats, nothing).. anyone have an idea? im in NC demand isnt very high for them here, gas is down, and its winter.. so im thinking i could get the dealr to come down in price some..?
You can get them (stealerships) to compete you know? Play their game and see them scramble especially next week and the week after! Short week before both the holidays trying to make their quotas. My biggest suggestions to those about to purchase them soon is to use cell phone and email to wheel and deal. Just make sure you are able to keep track of the dealership you are working with. If you have Costco or Sams, use them to get their sales quote and the others compete. I've been given a quote for $15,988 after destination charge and OTD would have been $17,200 for an 09 Sport Manual here in NorCal.

Oh yeah... I know. I played 23 Subaru dealerships in 4 states this Spring for a new-model STI.
I guess the question becomes how much is your time worth. I worked pretty hard (buying out of state in the end) to save $3K on the STI, but for the Fit you need to work pretty hard for a few hundred bucks.
Also... really hard to find combinations (e.g. MT Sport with Nav in a particular color) leave you no negotiation room since there will generally only be one car within hundreds of miles that fits that description: that was my situation when I bought mine a few months ago.
... but, if you have the time, I can understand the appeal of driving the hardest possible bargain just for the sake of doing so, especially if you are tight on cash.

yes and ill tell you how i did that
1) wanted the 5 speed MT all they had was an AT (took off 500
2) got the car wile i was still in Iraq (fellt sorry for me 500 off)
3) i have a 01 civic EX (came back to honda, they payed for destination charge)
4) i b!tched about it having 357 miles on it took more off
5) i pay no tax for the car being that im ACTIVE ARMY
i know it dont add-up all the way but thats about how it went grabed up the car in Clarksville, TN i have only seen like 4 counting my fit on the road there
and on a side note dealers only pay about half of what we pay for cars MSRP is a farce so looking at it this way i still got ripped off anyway i love this car
This very moment, as we speak, oil is down to $38.20 a barrel. This situation will not last very long - one may be sure that it will be way back up 6 - 12 months from now. But,maybe there is a window of opportunity as low gas prices cut down on demand for a super-economical vehicle, and dealers have to respond with some sort of discount.
