Question about the Fabric in our cars....

So, I just got my car yesterday....LOVE IT BTW....

I noticed that where you would rest your left elbow on the door (while you're driving at the base of the window) it's fabric. I thought how about how over time, that would just get worn down.....anyone else thought about that?

I'm so paranoid, that I try not to even rest my arm there anymore....sick. It stinks, I wish it was just plastic there.....

What do you guys think? Do you think the fabric will last with rubbing over time?? Especially black will fade more easily.

I have no idea if it'd just get worn down over time, but...hey man, enjoy it while it lasts. I am diggin' the feel of nice soft fabric over ice cold plastic in the morning

I hate the fabric below the windows too. I don't think it would last long either.

Try to rest your arm on the arm-rest below it. I noticed this too, whenever I have my arm on the upper arm rest(next to the window) I remind myself to put my arm down.

This is definitely a plus. Should help out during the summer too.

Sweat, oil and dirt from your arm just don't mix well with fabric. The lower arm rest is just not as comfortable. At least I can put a cover on the center arm rest, but difficult with the window rest.

Heh, I basically never rest my arm there since I have a MT and steer with my left hand. I usually have my arm on my lap with my hand holding the steering wheel.

My thoughts that are it probably will get worn down, but it's going to take a long time for that to happen, and unless you're rubbing your arm against it every time you drive, you shouldn't see signs of significant wear before you see other major issues start to come up with the car.

It's looks like a cheap polyester material and even feels cheap that's why I had this done,
Mugen Leather Seat Covers. Now they feel great.

Congrats on your car. I've shared those same thoughts regarding the fabric but I told myself... I could think that way about the car as a whole and feel bad for even driving it for fear of wear. At least the interior is not covered in as much fabric as the WRX STIs.
