Red face Door open warning light

First Post

I'm new to this forum and just got my storm, silver 09 fit A/sport and was wondering if your open door warning light/symbol is suppose to come on when the door is open even if the key is not in the ignition. I took it in to the dealer and they weren't sure and said it was normal but I'm kinda worried that the dealer just didn't want to work on my car. The warning light/symbol for a door being open only comes on if i turn the engine on or if the key is turned all the way to the II position. Is this normal for Hondas since this is my first Honda and was a loyal Toyota owner until my 04 Matrix XR had transmission problems and was told all the 03-04 manual transmission had a defective part and Toyota did not want to do recalls. So I finally sold my last Toyota and bought the Fit and have been admiring it since.

does it matter?

if any of the doors are open, the dome light will be on.

seriously do you really need a little logo on your dash to tell you that a door is open? im sure if a door is not fully closed / secured, you would feel the draft or abnormal wind noise once the car gets going anyways

you're right. it doesn't really matter but i just wanted to know if
my fit had a short or was defective. the dome light now comes on

i have children in the car and was use to seeing the symbol if a door is not fully closed. i guess it gives me a feeling that the passengers are safe and secured but once i turn the engine on i should be alerted if one of the doors
is not fully closed.
