Popping vtec? You mean that kick you get and volume increase you get in older models? I doubt it since GE's have i-vtec which is there to smoothen out the powerband so you dont feel vtec. Although with the right tuning anything is possible.
Yeah, I meant that "kick" haha
I don't really feel the kick but I do notice the volume increase.
Well..I guess I'm sad now..but maybe a good intake and exhaust will help?

intake and exhaust should help. doing some engine work would help to :P taking the head off and having it ported and polished (don't get the intake polished, it should have a rough finish) and the stock cam re-ground to be more aggressive. it would make a HUGE difference. i'm planning on sending my head in to get it worked over soon

Your gonna port and polish the head on a stock 1.5l engine? You won't see more than 5whp if that.
As for the popping thing, I don't see why you want it. All that means is that your not making any power before vtec. S2000 owners tune their cars to remove the kick as it makes more that way. That's why i-vtec is superior. And that's why GE's are have more power and torque than GD's early in the powerband. Smooth transition is best.
I agree on my GD3 when VTEC kicks in, it can be kind of annoying. Just kind of an "Okay, well if it can do this why wasn't it doing it the whole time?" kind of feeling.

i don't even feel nor hear the vtec kicking in. i have T1R intake, T1R header, and APEXi WS2 axleback. maybe the T1R b-pipe that's on its way might help me hear/feel the vtec.

that wouldn't be a bad idea. the ge has about 90whp, right? 5 more hp to the wheels is a 5.5% increase. coupled with a intake, exhaust, lighter wheels and a tune, 115whp should be achievable. makes sense to me, but I'm def no car expert.
i think the GE gets 100 to the wheels, it has 117 at the crank. i'm not 100% sure though but im positive it makes 100 or more, and with a re-ground cam, it would rev higher and get even more power

Yeah but considering the cost and labor of removing the head, stripping it, porting and polishing it, and all that it definately isnt worth it.

What tuning device are you going to use to remove the stock rev limiter and tune it for performance beyond 6800 rpm?
Well it depends on the shop and what exactly is being done but that alone will be around $300-500. Plus having to tear your car apart. And if your not removing the head yourself that will probably be another couple hundred in labor.
It makes sense if the head is already out and your building the bottom end but not just to P&P the head.
Well excuse me for wanting to try something different mr. nitpick lol.
Why would I pay a shop to take the head off my car? Why would i pay another mechanic to do the same job i can do for free Instead of cutting people down for wanting something different, why not just keep it to yourself instead of saying this isn't worth it or that is dumb?

Not cutting you down, just wanted to make sure you understand that the power increase if any would be neglible. Its a lot of work for no major increase.
And porting and polishing isn't different. Lots of people do it. Just most don't want to bother doing it on a Fit because they know they won't see a major difference. But hey if it you can get it all for free then go ahead. But in my OPINION the hours of labor involved and potential risk of tearing the car apart isn't worth the minor hp increase unless you've got a fully built motor or FI.

i cant stop laughing. not at you but "THE VTEC!" like our cars are about to just open up and destroy all that is man. thank you
The Fit is the only car I've driven with VTEC and I guess I wouldn't say I feel it kick in a TON, but I definitely feel it almost every time. With an engine so weak, how can you not notice when it suddenly gets some torque?
