Where to get a locking gas cap?

Can anyone recommend a store or website for a great locking gas cap? Does Autozone carry them? Can you buy a standard one or do they come in different sizes? Thanks!

I got mine from Bernardiparts.com. They have a sub-forum here in FitFreak. I also ordered along the rear bumper applique and trunk tray.

Bernardini is around the same price as OEM, isn't it? I went OEM on the bumper applique and cargo mat too. Knowing me, I wouldn't apply the bumper applique straight or perfectly centered, or I'd get a crease in it - and then I would need to be hospitalized.

Mine came from the Honda Element and has worked great for more than 10,000 miles.
Because of limited room for fingers I do suggest that you bolt the cap key in one end of a 3" x6" x1/8" bar to ease unscrewing and tightening the cap. We got 2 one for me and another for customer, they came from Advance and Autozone, each had only one in stock. Both worked fine.

LOL. The accessories lady at the dealership I bought from told me their service department tried 3 times to apply the applique on another fit and now they have to send it out to a "detail" shop for installation. Not sure if that's truth, or a justification to charge over $100 for the install.

Glad I have other dealers who are closer to choose from.

Locking gas cap

Re your request for a locking gas cap: given that you just push on the lid and it opens to the cap, its a great idea! I e-mailed Stant (a well known maker of locking caps) in April 09 and they said the following:
"At this time we do not have a locking cap for the Fit. Our 10507, which is the locking version of the cap we have for the Fit is a little too tall to let the door close properly. We are working on a low profile cap that may work but it will not be available for a few months."
I went back to them in July 09 and they said that they're still not done designing one yet. Looks like a few more months. Some information anyway; Hope that helps...a little...

Oh jeez, thank goodness my dealer is bringing in a the "detailing" guy to do that and the side moldings and door sill trim.

PNW101 - thanks, that is very helpful!

The Honda locking gas cap that fits the 2009 Fits is part # 17680-SAA-G00 it's from the Element, it looks a little big but it fits.
A few people have already installed it and had it key matched to their master key. I'm waiting to find a good locksmith that will do that for a reasonable price, as soon as I get it key matched, I can try to figure out some way of reattaching the tether.

keep in mind the following: In Phoenix, if the crooks find you have a locking cap, they poke a hole in the tank. What's cheaper, the gas or a new tank?

Yep.
Actually, it's bunches easier to poke a hole in the tank; why provoke 'em with a locker? It's been disproved that dumping sugar or such in the gas does any harm, so don't sweat it.
The rub strips and the bumper aplique are a day at the beach; no problem to install. I didn't swear once, and had it all done in about an hour, hour and a half, even with a little beer time.

There was lengthy discussions about locking gas caps last year. I've been using a Stant 11507 since I got my Fit last November. It works just fine. The 10507 is the same as the 11507 but in different packaging (box vs card).

What kind of logic is that? Are you saying that people shouldn't use locking caps because thieves are going to poke holes in the fuel tank? Should I leave my car unlocked so I don't risk thieves breaking my windows to steal my electronics?

Just a couple things you should know about the OEM Element cap. It has a little protrusion that prevents it from fitting in the cap rest on the door, and it's too big to fit the lanyard from the Fit cap.

I think I'm gonna hold off a while on the locking gas cap. I live in work in the suburbs, and am fairly confident the chances of someone stealing gas out of my 10 gal. max Fit is fairly low. Maybe 2010 will bring an OEM part dedicated to the Fit.

Koi..It's just cheaper than buying a new tank. However, theft of gas is relatively rare here. If Iwere a thief, I would pick a big SUV instead of wasting my time on a Fit. To the guy who said sugar doen't hurt, maybe not, but my daughter had a Kia Rio, poor girl, that was a nightmare. Someone poured a lot of sugar in, and it hardened in the filler pipe. Cost $350 to get it cleaned out.
