Smile New Rims for Base Fit

Hey Guys,

I knew when I got my base Fit I was going to have to get rid of the hubcaps and get some Rims. Decided to stick with the 15s since 16 inch tires with decent width are significantly heavier. This way I can keep my stock tires for a while and get some use out of them.

The stock tires are crappy for cornering but they're very light (16lbs) and the roll very well.

Was going to wait a while but came across some wheels I really liked.

These are Honda accessory rims made by Enkei. 15X6 ET 45. Reasonably light at 16lbs ea.

I'm getting the stock tires and TPMS sensors mounted at the Dealer Monday night. Here's a quick peek with the center cap and new chrome lugs. Love the center caps with the chrome honda emblems.

I'll post up some pics of them on the car Tues. Will probably be dark Monday by the time I get them put on.

I got them on ebay from West Hills Honda in Washington. $350 for the set. They've listed another set but raised the price to $375.

Hey Chad check the for sale section there is a guy selling Skunk 2 drop springs that would make those 15s look even better. Rims look good by the way & great price.

No problem. We have a nice digital scale at work. Weighed the new rims today 16.7lbs. I'll weigh one of the stockers tommorow. I'm hoping the new ones are at least a little lighter. The steelies don't feel real heavy though.

Thanks for the heads up. That would look sweet I'm sure but I'm trying to keep this car fairly mild.

Just got back from the dealer. Like the way the rims look but I really haven't had much time to scope them out. Stock tires fit nicely on the wider rims. No TPMS light. Pics tommorow......

Any luck on getting the weights of the original steel wheel? I'm dying to know a real-world base figure as I calculate virtual weight savings in my head while window shopping for new rims.

I'd like to get a set of steelies for my 09 Sport for winter snow tires, does Honda make such a thing, or will I have to settle for 15"??

Stock 15 inch Fit wheel with hubcap weighs presicely 17.7lbs. Not all that heavy but I did shave 1 lb per wheel.

15s would probably be better for snows anyway. You want snow tires as narrow and tall as possible. You'll suck down tons of gas with big snow tires. Nice work on the mileage. That's impressive. I try to do some hypermiling but end up ruining it because I like to rev the little motor for all it's worth sometimes.

Here are the rims on the car. Nothing wild just kind of an old school Honda look.

Stock tires are a little stretched but not too bad.

Anyone looking for some inexpensive rims, check this out;

15 16 17 18 19 Polished Black White Rims Custom Red Gold Bronze Wheels

I'm thinking of ordering a set and keeping the stock setup for winter.

Looks good! It helps to see how they look on the same color and model as I have. I also got the splash guards put on.

Are you going to use the steelies in winter?

I'm going to see how the stock tires do. Might go for some snow tires on the steelies but I'm not sure how much of a pain it will be with the TPMS.

Hoping I can get by with these but snow tires are nice to have. Not too worried about the rims since they are painted and cleared.

They will be much easier to clean than the Sport 16 inchers I have. Us old farts like simpler wheels when it comes to bending over to wash them. I have to do the toothbrush thing on my front wheels because of brake dust. Maybe I can make a trade over the winter when they are off the car. If not they will be Taffy white when they go back on.
